Micah Parsons<\/a><\/strong> is getting advice from NFL legends to help him become a better player for the Dallas Cowboys. While speaking to reporters earlier this week<\/a>, Parsons opened up about having a long conversation with Richard Sherman.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI actually talked to Richard Sherman,\u201d Parsons said. \u201cRichard Sherman kind of gave me a long lecture while we was at the Super Bowl. He\u2019s like \u2018Man I can\u2019t believe you guys lost that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sherman was referring to the Cowboys playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs last season. Parsons admitted that the loss negatively impacted him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like so distraught about it. I just couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d Parsons said while also mentioning Sherman, Ray Lewis<\/a><\/strong>, Tom Brady<\/a><\/strong> and Andrew Whitworth<\/a><\/strong> are his mentors. During the Cowboys\u2019 preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, Parsons was seen having a conversation with Brady who will call the team\u2019s season opener against the Cleveland Browns. <\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, it was a deep conversation [teammates and I] had last year before the playoffs and guys were like, \u2018You\u2019ve gotta bring us along with you, and you can\u2019t be on this journey alone, if you\u2019re mister All-Pro,’\u201d Parsons revealed<\/a>. \u201cIt was a reality check for me. I went to my mentors this offseason like, \u2018How do I approach this? How do I get better at this because this is a task I\u2019ve never had to take on in my life? My whole life it\u2019s been \u2018Micah\u2019s gonna do what Micah\u2019s gotta do,\u2019 and I just expected everyone else to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Micah Parsons talks being a better leader in 2024<\/h2>\n

Parsons has emerged as one of the top defensive players <\/a>in the NFL over the last three seasons. He won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2021 and has been named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro Team the last three years. The 25-year-old is now looking to be more of leadership as the Cowboys look to make a Super Bowl run. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou learn that leadership means some people do need a pat on the back and some people do need a push that tells them you need a little bit more out of [them], because everyone\u2019s not built the same and everyone doesn\u2019t have the same mindset,\u201d he said. \u201cI think it was a harsh reality check within myself. I\u2019ve gotta do what I gotta do to make myself better, but also to bring along other guys. I feel like I needed that, and I\u2019m glad I had that conversation early on [in my career].\u201d<\/p>\n
