Returning nearly its entire lineup, the volleyball program was picked to finish No. 8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll.<\/p>\n
The eighth-place ranking ties for the highest preseason ranking in program history, matching 2021\u2019s No. 8 nod, which the team went on to finish sixth in the nation behind an NCAA Regional Final appearance.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n In six of the last seven years, Purdue out-performed its preseason ranking, finishing better than predicted.<\/p>\n Purdue is one of six teams in the nation to return three All-Americans for the coming 2024 season with junior\u00a0Eva Hudson<\/a>\u00a0(Second Team All-America), sophomore\u00a0Chloe Chicoine<\/a>\u00a0(Third Team All-America) and senior\u00a0Raven Colvin<\/a>\u00a0(Honorable Mention) headlining the returning Boilermakers. Despite having one of the youngest teams in the program\u2019s history last year, Purdue finished third in the Big Ten standings and No. 13 in the AVCA final poll behind a 23-9 (15-5 Big Ten) record.<\/p>\n Purdue\u2019s 2024 season will begin at home with the Stacey Clark Classic on Friday, August 30 vs. K-State and will face six non-conference matchups vs. 2023 NCAA tournament teams before Big Ten action begins on Wednesday, September 25 vs. Penn State at home.<\/p>\n With the 2024 season just around the corner, Purdue Football\u2019s rebranded radio show is set to make its debut on Thursday, August 29. The weekly radio show, Purdue Football Live, will take place at Walk-On\u2019s in the Purdue Memorial Union, a restaurant owned by legendary quarterback Drew Brees.<\/p>\n Each week, head coach\u00a0Ryan Walters<\/a>\u00a0or a member of the coaching staff, along with multiple football student-athletes, will join the Voice of the Boilermakers, Tim Newton. Fans can listen on the Purdue Global Radio Network, including Z96.5 WAZY in West Lafayette, or watch a live stream on the Purdue Athletics Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.<\/p>\n The first show is scheduled for Thursday, August 29 beginning at 6 p.m. ET, two days before the Boilermakers host Indiana State to open the 2024 season. During Purdue\u2019s bye week, the show will hit the road live from Wolfies Grill in Carmel, Indiana.<\/p>\n Complete Schedule (All shows subject to change)<\/strong> The soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at Butler on Sunday night at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n Concluding the opening weekend of the season away from home, the Boilermakers (1-1-0) had three shots, two on goal. The Bulldogs (1-0-1) were credited with 25 shots, nine on target, and earned 11 corner kicks.<\/p>\n Senior forward\u00a0Gracie Dunaway<\/a>\u00a0and senior midfielder\u00a0Cloey Uddenberg<\/a>\u00a0both had one shot on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper\u00a0Emily Edwards<\/a>\u00a0made a career-high six saves, and Butler\u2019s keeper stopped both shots she faced.<\/p>\n Sunday night\u2019s matchup was the first between the Boilermakers and Bulldogs since 2012, and Purdue\u2019s first game in Indianapolis since 2009. The Old Gold and Black fell to 6-2-0 in the in-state series.<\/p>\n Edwards made her first save less than one minute into the game. The Boilermaker defense then prevented shots on a pair of Butler corner kicks.<\/p>\n The Bulldogs took 1-0 lead at 12:45, as Norah Jacomen scored shortly after a corner kick. Another Edwards save came in the 20th minute.<\/p>\n Off the bench less than six minutes earlier, Dunaway quickly made her presence felt and had a chance in the 29th minute, but the Butler goalkeeper moved to her left to make the save.<\/p>\n Following Dunaway\u2019s shot, the Boilermaker defense blocked four shots to conclude the first half, two of which came one minute after Dunaway\u2019s opportunity.<\/p>\n The home side had nine shots, three on target in the first half, and the visitors had one shot, which went on goal. Butler had seven corner kicks and did not allow one.<\/p>\n BU extended its lead to 2-0 when Talia Sommer scored at 55:52.\u00a0The goal was assisted by Caitlin O\u2019Malley.<\/p>\n Edwards made her third save in the 62nd minute, and Purdue\u2019s sophomore goalkeeper made two more stops on back-to-back chances 10 seconds apart less than four minutes later.<\/p>\n Uddenberg had an opportunity in the 68th minute, but her shot was saved.<\/p>\n Butler made it a 3-0 game as Alexei Whittaker scored at 78:01, with an assist to Leila Lister.<\/p>\n Junior defender\u00a0Sabrina Blount<\/a>\u00a0had a shot high in the 80th minute, and Edwards made her sixth save of the night 30 seconds later.<\/p>\n In the second half, Butler had 16 shots, six on goal, and Purdue had two shots, one on target. The Bulldogs earned four corners.<\/p>\n Purdue returns home for two games next week, beginning against Loyola Chicago on Thursday, August 22, at 7 p.m. Kickoff is free for all fans to the contest and each regular-season home game at Folk Field.<\/p>\n The Wrestling program released its official out of conference schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season on Wednesday afternoon, featuring seven duals and two tournament trips. \u00a0<\/p>\n Head coach\u00a0Tony Ersland<\/a>\u2018s program will have to be road warriors this year, with all seven of the team\u2019s non-conference events happening away from home. \u00a0The Boilermakers will kick off their season with their second trip to North Carolina in as many years to take on Gardner-Webb on November 1.<\/p>\n It will be Purdue\u2019s first matchup against the Runnin\u2019 Bulldogs since 2011 and the fourth all-time. In a historical anomaly, the Boilers won the most recent dual 48-(-1) thanks to four pins, a tech fall, and a deducted team point from Gardner-Webb.<\/p>\n The next trip on the calendar will be to the Tiger Style Invite hosted by Missouri in Kansas City, Mo, on November 9. The program will be making its first appearance in the tournament\u2019s third year. Boilermaker wrestlers took eight medals from their non-conference opens last season.<\/p>\n Ersland and company follow up the tournament trip with a pair of back-to-back tri-dual meets. The first will take the team to upstate New York to face Buffalo and Army on November 17. In the following week, the Boilers travel south to dual with Chattanooga and Princeton on November 23 in a meet hosted by the Mocs. Purdue holds a 17-3 combined record against those four opponents with the only losses coming against the Black Knights.<\/p>\n The first weekend of December will once again see the Boilermakers head out to the desert for the annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. The program\u2019s 18th\u00a0appearance in the vaunted tournament, Purdue has earned 49 placewinners and four champions in that span. Last season,\u00a0Matt Ramos<\/a>\u00a0claimed his third straight Cliff Keen medal and could become the first wrestler in program history to place four times.<\/p>\n The Boilers will then bookend the new year with two quick trips across the Ohio border for duals at Cleveland State (Dec. 18) and Kent State (Jan. 3). Purdue has won nine straight against the Vikings and is 6-3 all-time against the Golden Flashes.<\/p>\n Big Ten schedules are expected to be released in September, unveiling Purdue\u2019s eight conference opponents. This season\u2019s Big Ten tournament will be a quick drive up I-65 for the Boilermaker faithful as Northwestern plays host in Evanston, Ill.<\/p>\n The first week of a new school year is underway and Baseball has welcomed an influx of newcomers, a group of 30 that will compete for the program during the 2025 season this spring.<\/p>\n The Boilermakers are slated to start their eight-week fall practice calendar the week of Aug. 26 and open scrimmages at Alexander Field begin Sept. 10. The fall ball schedule features two exhibition games vs. Division I opponents at home and the Black & Gold Series in mid-October. Fall dates for gameday action and scrimmages open to the public will be announced in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n \u201cI adore the start of the new school year and having the full team together for the first time. We\u2019re excited to announce all of the newcomers that have joined us,\u201d head coach\u00a0Greg Goff<\/a>\u00a0said of his year-four recruiting class. \u201cAfter having 20 graduates in our Class of 2024, we essentially had to replace half the roster. Our staff did so effectively with an equal mix of Division I transfers, junior college transfers and freshmen. It\u2019s a great group of Boilermakers and a talented collection of ballplayers from across the country. They\u2019re going to make an impact and contribute to our program\u2019s continued successes, like last year\u2019s record-setting season that featured team records such as the 75 home runs and 11-game Big Ten win streak. I\u2019m eagerly anticipating getting back on the field and giving our fans an opportunity to see the team in action after they set attendance records at Alexander the last two years.\u201d<\/p>\n Head coach\u00a0Magali Frezzotti<\/a>\u00a0announced softball\u2019s\u00a0Fall Ball schedule,\u00a0featuring an exclusive slate of home games to be held at\u00a0Bittinger Stadium. This season, all eight Fall Ball matchups will take place on the Boilermakers\u2019 home turf, offering fans free\u00a0opportunities to catch a preview of the team before the spring season.<\/p>\n The Fall Ball season kicks off on Sunday, September 22, with a doubleheader against IU Indy\u00a0and Illinois State beginning at Noon ET.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are excited about the fall schedule;\u00a0the opponents making the trip to West Lafayette will challenge us and help us solidify our team identity as we go become a better version of the team they saw last year,\u201d Frezzotti said. \u201cPlaying at home is important to us, and we honor every opportunity we get to play at Bittinger stadium. Not only do we have one of the most beautiful stadiums in the country, but we also love the chance to show our fans what this team is made of right away this fall.\u201d<\/p>\n The fall season will wrap up Saturday, October 19 vs. Bryant & Stratton College.<\/p>\n The 2024-25 Women\u2019s Golf schedule features a pair of home tournaments, starting the season with the Boilermaker Classic (Sept. 2-3). Entering his third season, head coach\u00a0Zack Byrd<\/a>\u00a0put together a challenging slate that will see the Boilermakers play at incredible courses across eight states, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico. \u00a0<\/p>\n Purdue will look to start the season off with a victory just like last year as the defending champions of the Boilermaker Classic. The 54-hole stroke play tournament will be contested on the Kampen-Cosler Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.<\/p>\n The tournament is looking for volunteers for the afternoon (2-7 PM ET) of September 2. Anyone interested in filling those volunteer roles can contact assistant coach\u00a0Lauren Guiao<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0lguiao@purdue.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n After the season-opening home tournament, Purdue heads north to Minnesota to compete in the prestigious Annika Intercollegiate hosted by golf legend Annika Sorenstam (Sept. 9-11). Two weeks later, the Boilermakers return to East Lansing, Michigan to defend their title at the Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 22-23), hosted by Michigan State. Purdue won last year\u2019s tournament by 10 strokes.<\/p>\n After not appearing on the schedule last year, the Windy City Collegiate Classic is back on the calendar (Sept. 30-Oct. 1). The Boilermakers played in the tournament annually from 2013-22, aside from the 2020 fall season that was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rounding out the fall, Purdue leaves the country for a dose of Caribbean paradise. The Boilermakers compete in the White Sands Bahamas Invitational on Paradise Island in the Bahamas (Oct. 18-20).<\/p>\n Flipping the calendar to 2025, Purdue travels west to Gold Canyon, Arizona for the Match in the Desert at Superstition Mountain Country Club (Jan. 27). One week later, the Boilermakers serve as hosts of the Puerto Rico Classic at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico (Feb. 2-4). A regular on the Purdue schedule from 2003-20, Byrd brought the tournament back last season.<\/p>\n Purdue returns to two more tournaments that were on the schedule last season. The Boilermakers tee it up at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational in Sarasota, Florida (Feb. 16-17) before going back to the Briar\u2019s Creek Invitational on Johns Island, South Carolina (March 10-11).<\/p>\n Ending March and rolling into April, the Boilermakers travel to St. Augustine, Florida for the Coach Mo Classic. Serving as the final tune-up before the conference championship, Purdue welcomes teams back to West Lafayette for the Boilermaker Spring Classic. The spring tournament will take place on the other BBGC Pete Dye course, Ackerman-Allen (April 6-7).<\/p>\n The Big Ten Championships returns to Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Maryland, just outside of Baltimore (April 18-20). Last year, the Boilermakers fired an even-par 864 (292-289-283) for their lowest score in the conference tournament since 2016.<\/p>\n Rounding out the schedule, the Boilermakers plan to hear their names called for postseason play in one of six NCAA Regionals (May 5-7) with sights set on a return trip to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California (May 16-21).<\/p>\n Purdue returns a plethora of talent for the 2024-25 campaign, bringing back five golfers that competed in at least eight tournaments a season ago led by two-time All-Big Ten honoree\u00a0Momo Sugiyama<\/a>.\u00a0Jocelyn Bruch<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Natasha Kiel<\/a>\u00a0are back for the senior seasons after playing in all 13 events last year, while\u00a0Jasmine Kahler<\/a>\u00a0made an immediate impact with 10 tournament appearances as a freshman.\u00a0Jade Gu<\/a>\u00a0brings veteran experience as well after playing in eight tournaments throughout the 2023-24 season and 22 throughout her career. Byrd also brings in a freshman class that includes the best golfers in both Indiana (Samantha Brown) and Michigan (Lauren Timpf) along with four-time all-state and two-time state champion Michaela Headlee.<\/p>\n Purdue alumnus\u00a0Jo Stevens<\/a>\u00a0is set to continue his career as a professional in his native Australia, signing with the Sydney Blue Sox for the upcoming 2024-25 season, but first he\u2019s headed to China in September for the WBSC Under-23 Baseball World Cup.<\/p>\n Stevens was a two-year starter for the Boilermakers at third base, impressing with his defensive consistency and baseball instincts. His improvements at the plate as a senior in 2024 helped him post a .307\/.431\/.531 slash line, raising his batting average by .084 points and OPS by .342 from Purdue\u2019s 2023 campaign. Stevens\u2019 nine home runs and 43 RBI helped the Boilermakers set team records in both categories this past spring.<\/p>\n Stevens also played for Australia at the 2019 U18 World Cup in South Korea. Five years later, he\u2019s been selected to represent Australia again in the 12-team U23 tournament set for Sept. 5-15 in Shaoxing City, China. The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is the world\u2019s governing body of the sports and organizer of World Cup events as well as the WBSC Premier12, which shares top-tier status with the World Baseball Classic.<\/p>\n Stevens was among six players with playing experience at the NCAA level selected for Australia\u2019s 24-man U23 World Cup roster. He\u2019s also among a dozen players on Australia\u2019s roster that have played in an U18 World Cup.<\/p>\n The Sydney Blue Sox are part of the six-team Australian Baseball League, which plays its season from November through February during the summer months in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also recognized among professional baseball\u2019s winter leagues like many in the Caribbean and Central America.<\/p>\n Stevens earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in communications in just two years at Purdue, graduating in May.<\/p>\n Another Olympian is joining the coaching staff at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center as\u00a0Mark Bradshaw<\/a>\u00a0brings collegiate and international coaching experience with him while becoming Purdue Swimming & Diving\u2019s associate head coach for diving.<\/p>\n Bradshaw most recently served as the head diving coach at Notre Dame for the last three seasons. He also spent 23 seasons as the diving coach at Arizona State (1998-2020), winning the CSCAA\u2019s national Diving Coach of the Year award twice (2003 and 2005) and nine Pac-10\/12 Diving Coach of the Year honors.<\/p>\n An NCAA champion on 3-meter for Ohio State, Bradshaw represented Team USA on 3-meter at the 1988 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n Diving head coach\u00a0David Boudia<\/a>\u00a0announced the hiring, bringing aboard Bradshaw to fill Boudia\u2019s previous position. Boudia succeeded\u00a0Adam Soldati<\/a>\u00a0as head coach of the Purdue Divers in June when Soldati transitioned to a director of diving role after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).<\/p>\n Bradshaw served as the coach for Finland\u2019s divers at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. He has also served as the diving coach at the United State Military Academy (1988-89) and Ohio University (1996-97).
