Bobby Petrino<\/a><\/strong> had quite the run of success at Arkansas<\/a><\/strong> in his previous stint as head coach before an off-the-field incident derailed his tenure there.<\/p>\n

When the Razorbacks take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff<\/a> on Thursday, Aug. 29, it\u2019ll be a homecoming of sorts for the former head coach, who is now the offensive coordinator for Sam Pittman<\/a><\/strong> and the Hogs.<\/p>\n

To date, though, Petrino hasn\u2019t spent much time thinking about his home debut.<\/p>\n

\u201cGosh I wish I could think about it but coach has been grinding us, man,\u201d he said on Tuesday evening. \u201cI haven\u2019t had time to think about a whole lot. We\u2019re here early in the morning and getting home late at night. But it\u2019ll be fun. I\u2019m looking forward to it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always enjoyed going down to Little Rock and playing down in Little Rock. I think it\u2019ll be fun. I can\u2019t wait till we get down there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The offensive guru is looking to revitalize the Arkansas attack, which loses star quarterback KJ Jefferson<\/a><\/strong>. The program brought in Boise State<\/a><\/strong> transfer Taylen Green<\/a><\/strong>, who Bobby Petrino will now get to mold.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot of room for improvement, both for Green and for the Razorbacks.<\/p>\n

Arkansas finished the 2023 season ranked 69th nationally in scoring offense and 107th nationally in total offense. Those figures aren\u2019t going to cut it if Pittman hopes to keep his job going forward.<\/p>\n

So where will Bobby Petrino set up shop?<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to be on the sideline,\u201d he revealed. \u201cYou\u2019ve got the clicker now where you can talk to the quarterback and earpiece. Can\u2019t do that from upstairs.\u201d<\/p>\n

So all the noise, all the pomp and circumstance, Petrino will get to experience it all in his return to the Razorbacks. It wasn\u2019t a decision he made lightly, going from the booth down to the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought about it. I kind of liked it last year upstairs and calling the game and being away from all the elements that go down there,\u201d Bobby Petrino said. \u201cBut I didn\u2019t like not being able to see the quarterback\u2019s eyes and how they were reacting and what was going on on the sidelines. So I think it\u2019s the right decision to be down.\u201d<\/p>\n
