Nebraska second-year coach Matt Rhule<\/a><\/strong> said Saturday that he plans to name a starting quarterback sometime in the coming week. <\/p>\n

Rhule\u2019s comments came in the immediate wake of his team\u2019s second major scrimmage of preseason camp, a 137-play session. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll go out and watch tape now (and) kind of look at a lot of different positions, and sort of say, \u2018Hey, here\u2019s the depth we have going into the first game,’\u201d he said, referring to Nebraska\u2019s August 31 opener against UTEP in Lincoln. <\/p>\n

Dylan Raiola<\/a><\/strong>, a strong-armed true freshman, is widely regarded as the favorite to land the starting quarterback job. But the team is confident in all the quarterbacks, Rhule said. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I think the thing we know internally is it\u2019s the job of everyone else to make the quarterback successful,\u201d the coach said. <\/p>\n

Rhule praises all three top QBs on chart<\/h2>\n

Rhule has said previously that it\u2019ll be evident when someone emerges as the top choice at QB. He was asked if it\u2019s become evident. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d he said. \u201cHonestly, I don\u2019t know. I think we feel confident in all the guys. It\u2019s a really good question. I think the thing that we have is three guys that we feel like can lead us to wins. From that part, it\u2019s hard. <\/p>\n

\u201cShould someone be more advanced right now than someone else? Yes. The difficult part in it is you have one guy who\u2019s played, and you\u2019ve seen him play \u2014 and you know how hard it is to play.\u201d <\/p>\n

Heinrich Haarberg<\/a><\/strong>, a junior from Kearney, was 5-3 as Nebraska\u2019s starter last season. <\/p>\n

Rhule added, \u201cAnd you see two guys who haven\u2019t played yet in college, and that\u2019s maybe the unknown factor here.\u201d <\/p>\n

Raiola is joined in camp by fellow true freshman Daniel Kaelin<\/a><\/strong>, who starred for Bellevue West. <\/p>\n

\u201cAll three guys have worked really hard and done a good job,\u201d Rhule said. \u201cI\u2019m sure they will all continue to improve.\u201d <\/p>\n

Nebraska made it through the scrimmage with no major injuries, Rhule said.<\/p>\n
