Just when it looked like defensive line recruit Deyvid Palepale<\/a><\/strong> may be slipping away, Penn State is now set to earn one last shot at the Hempfield, Pa., resident. <\/p>\n

During an interview with On3\u2019s EJ Holland just over a week ago<\/a><\/strong>, Palepale admitted that Michigan was the team to beat in his recruitment. With an official visit locked in for Ann Arbor, June 9-11, things weren\u2019t looking good for James<\/strong> Franklin<\/strong><\/a>, Deion<\/strong> Barnes<\/strong><\/a> and the entire Penn State staff. The Nittany Lions had previously locked in an official visit themselves for June 16-18, but Palepale admitted that visit was up in the air when Blue White Illustrated contacted him a day later.<\/p>\n

Fast-forward to now and it\u2019s clear that Penn State went on the attack, as Palepale tweeted today that he\u2019s now locked in to return to Happy Valley this upcoming weekend, June 2-4. While there\u2019s clearly work to be done, moving his official visit to a week before his Michigan visit assures they\u2019ll at least get the chance to convince him that staying close to home is right for his future.<\/p>\n

While Penn State could potentially play Wyomissing athlete Caleb Brewer<\/a><\/strong> as a defensive tackle, the Nittany Lions still have a lot of work to do along the defensive front. In addition to Palepale, the Nittany Lions are set to host two other potential defensive tackles this weekend in Liam Andrews<\/a><\/strong> and Xavier Gilliam<\/a><\/strong>. Edge rusher Jaylen Harvey<\/a><\/strong> is also expected to be on campus. The following weekend, June 9-11, will also be heavy with potential defensive linemen, with four more players set to attend.<\/p>\n

As of this spring, Penn State was expected to sign around five or six defensive lineman total<\/a><\/strong>. With the class roughly halfway finished, that\u2019s still a realistic possibility. <\/p>\n
