Michigan hosted a number of top underclassmen for visits this summer, including Javian Mallory<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The On300 running back out of Boca Raton (Fla.) West Boca made his first-ever trip to Ann Arbor in June and loved his time on campus.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was my first time going to Michigan, and it was everything I expected,\u201d Mallory said. \u201cThe facilities are A1. The coaching staff is A1. Everything was great. I got to build on an already great relationship with Coach (Tony) Alford. I got to meet new coaches at Michigan, and I\u2019m starting to build relationships with them. It was awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford has made Mallory a top priority next cycle. Alford recruited Mallory during his time at Ohio State and actually coached his uncle, Richard Alexis, back in the early 2000s when he spent a year at Washington.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, Alford and Mallory have an extremely tight bond.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe go way back, but recently our relationship has been getting stronger,\u201d Mallory said. \u201cI had a great time with him on the visit. We\u2019ve been talking on the phone every day. Our relationship is just growing and growing. He coached my uncle back in the day. It\u2019s bigger than football. Coach Alford feels like family. He has my best interest at heart. He\u2019s a great coach and a great guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore met with Mallory on his visit and made a strong impression.<\/p>\n

\u201cI trust him and believe everything he says,\u201d Mallory said. \u201cI think he\u2019s going to continue that legacy at Michigan. He was telling me his goals for the team and how nothing is going to fall off. He said they are going to keep being national championship contenders and that if I go there, I can help them keeping winning national championships.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michigan already has two 2026 commits from the state of Florida in Top 100 quarterback Brady Hart<\/a><\/strong> and On300 cornerback Brody Jennings<\/a><\/strong>. And it wouldn\u2019t be surprising to see Mallory keep the trend going.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see the pipeline now,\u201d Mallory said. \u201cI love to see it. Me and Brady Hart have been talking a little bit (laughs). He wants me to be the next one. He hasn\u2019t told me anything I don\u2019t know. They\u2019ve built something special, and they want to keep it going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Overall, Michigan is right at the top of the list for Mallory.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichigan is a running back\u2019s dream,\u201d Mallory said. \u201cThey have a great offensive line. Coach Alford is going to do his job with the backs. He produces each and every year. He\u2019s going to push me to a new level. Michigan is definitely a top school for me right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mallory is also considering Miami and Notre Dame and may make a decision at some point this month.<\/p>\n

At 6-foot, 200 pounds, Mallory is ranked as the No. 13 running back and No. 171 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.<\/p>\n
