LSU\u2019s 2024 class is clearly a crucial stepping stone for this coaching staff both to acquire talent to compete and begin winning some of these tightly contested recruiting battles across the country. The SEC continues to get more challenging and now head coach Matt McMahon and his staff are intent on asserting themselves on the recruiting trail with this class.<\/p>\n
The Tigers already have one commit, but their work is far from finished. this class will continue to be a talking point throughout the summer with its significance. Now that the circuit season is over, it\u2019s time for visits and the heat to turn up on the top recruits.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s a rundown of the key players to know as we enter the summer months. Stay tuned for individual pieces and the latest scoops in basketball recruiting.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s been three weeks since Devon Pryor<\/a><\/strong> committed to LSU after the Tigers watched him in person in Bryan, Texas then hosted him for a visit early in May. Pryor is a player who will need to develop into his long and athletic frame, but has the shooting and defensive skills that make him appealing to college coaches. Currently a three-star prospect both on On3 and 247Sports, Pryor will continue to work and should be on the cusp of a four-star by this time next year. Very solid pickup to start the class for Matt McMahon.<\/p>\n Robert Miller III<\/a><\/strong>: Houston, Texas \u2013 Four-star forward<\/p>\n Curtis Givens<\/a><\/strong>: Memphis, Tennessee \u2013 Four-star point guard<\/p>\n Rakease Passmore<\/a><\/strong>: Palatka, Florida \u2013 Four-star wing<\/p>\n Annor Boateng<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Little Rock, Arkansas \u2013 Four-star wing<\/p>\n Four players in the top 70 in On3\u2019s Industry Rankings, these are LSU\u2019s big swings for 2024. Miller visited Baton Rouge on April 14 and LSU is in a good spot, but still squarely in a battle with Texas.<\/p>\n Givens named his top seven with LSU, Georgia Tech, Indiana, UConn, Vinnalova, Memphis and Texas, but he\u2019s only named Georgia Tech and LSU as visits so far which is great for McMahon and the staff. LSU was able to go in-home with Passmore on May 3 and it seems he still has plenty of time in his recruitment.<\/p>\n Boateng was looking to visit LSU as of April, but has a loaded recruitment as a top 20 player in the class. A lot of teams to compete with here for LSU, but we\u2019ll see if the staff can get him in on a visit.<\/p>\n Elijah Crawford<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 OV Oct 8<\/p>\n Jeremiah Evans<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 OV Sep. 24<\/p>\n This group visited, but we haven\u2019t heard much as of late on them being top targets for LSU or visiting again. Evans is the No. 129 player in the class and top player in Louisiana this year, so he\u2019s the one we\u2019re tracking the closest at this moment.<\/p>\n Crawford and LSU have been in contact, but in March, he told On3\u2019s Jamie Shaw that he was looking to go on visits to Mississippi State, Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina, and Boston College, without mentioning LSU.<\/p>\n Gicarri Harris<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Karter Knox<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Zion Pipkin<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n VJ Edgecombe<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Micah Robinson<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Nic Codie<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Codie was someone LSU was intrigued by during the circuit months, but with his recruitment blowing up, it seems Codie has moved on from LSU, setting official visits to TCU, Virginia Tech, and Houston for June. We\u2019ll see if the Tigers make another push.<\/p>\n The coaching staff watched Robinson, Edgecombe, and Harris in Bryan, Texas in late April and maintained that they were still interested in them at the time. Since then, we haven\u2019t heard of any news on either side of a visit or things ramping up.
