Oscar Smith four-star wide receiver\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/travis-johnson-158655\/\">Travis Johnson\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>wasted no time getting down to Miami for the Hurricanes cookout this past weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With his bond with Canes wide receivers coach Kevin Beard and his interest in Miami continuing to grow, Johnson,felt it was needed to get a closer look at the program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe and Coach Beard have a great, strong relationship,\u201d Johnson told CaneSport. \u201cI love how he coaches and all of that. He taught me a lot of things that I\u2019m going to bring back to Virginia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This weekend\u2019s trip to South Florida was the 6-foot-2.5, 175-pound wideout\u2019s second visit to Miami since being offered by the Canes earlier this spring in March.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love it down here,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cIt\u2019s Miami.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With his recruitment beginning to take shape, Johnson says programs such as Texas A&amp;M, Tennessee, Auburn, Michigan, South Carolina, and Miami have been showing him the most interest early on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He explained that development and academics are at the top of his list of priorities when looking into a potential program to call home. This month, Johnson has visited West Virginia (July 25),\u00a0Texas A&amp;M\u00a0(July 26), Miami (July 27), and Michigan (July 28).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere I\u2019m going to get developed on and off the field as a man,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cAcademics as well will play a role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As far as Miami, Johnson, who is the No.133 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, is pleased to see the direction the program is headed and has high hopes for the Canes this upcoming fall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love how their program is coming together,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cI think they\u2019re going to be really good this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>CaneSport\u2019s take\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Miami continues to impress Johnson, who raved about his time in Coral Gables.
