Speaking on a recent episode of their \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kd2tRQOaJF8&amp;t=1749s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Heights<\/a>\u201d podcast, the brother tandem said they\u2019re in favor of playing games on \u201cThursday Night Football.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a huge fan of the Thursday night games,\u201d Jason Kelce said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a huge fan of them even later in the season, too,\u201d Travis Kelce added.<\/p>\n<p>Jason cited the extra rest on the backside of \u201cThursday Night Football\u201d games as the biggest benefit to playing them. He added that any player against them is merely looking to \u201cmakes headlines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am all for games being played on Thursdays because that means we have walk-throughs during the middle of the week and we don\u2019t practice and then we get three days off after the game,\u201d Jason said, via <em><a href=\"https:\/\/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com\/2023\/05\/27\/kelce-brothers-are-huge-fans-of-thursday-night-games-criticize-players-who-oppose-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pro Football Talk<\/a><\/em>. \u201cPlayers that are anti\u2013Thursday night games are just looking to make headlines. There\u2019s no f\u2014\u2014 chance anybody with half a brain cell is against Thursday night games.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>NFL owners approve significant change to \u2018Thursday Night Football\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The NFL has the power to flex Sunday afternoon games to Thursday nights beginning in Week 13 of the regular season after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/schedule-nfl-thursday-night-football-flex-tnf-season\/\">owners approved the proposal<\/a> this past Monday. The league will give teams at least a 28-day notice before the change. The move likely upsets\u00a0<em>FOX<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>CBS<\/em>, who each pay north of $2 billion to broadcast games.\u00a0<em>Amazon<\/em> <em>Prime Video<\/em>, meanwhile, pays roughly $1 billion annually for the exclusive rights to \u201cThursday Night Football.\u201d The streaming-only deal runs for ten more seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Jason is a fan of flexing games given the product viewers have grown accustomed to seeing on Thursday nights. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe other reason I\u2019m a fan of the Thursday night games getting flexed is I just like good football being on prime time TV. I don\u2019t want to turn my Thursday night television on and have to watch a bad game,\u201d Jason said. \u201cI like watching good football, and Thursday nights is one of the few nights that I get to watch football and just enjoy it as a fan.
