The Miami Hurricanes already have a handful of cornerback transfers on the roster, with Daryl Porter, Jr. coming in last year and Terry Roberts, Jaden Davis, Davonte Brown and Jadais Richard<\/a> joining the team for this season.<\/p>\n

Now UM is looking at adding one more transfer to the CB ranks. San Leandro (Cali.) College of San Mateo <\/a>cornerback Demetrius Freeney landed an offer from Jahmile Addae on Friday and is setting up a visit for the weekend of June 9. He plans to take that with a teammate who also has a Miami offer, CB Sione Laulea.<\/p>\n

The two are considering playing at the same program together, but Laulea would not enroll until December.<\/p>\n

Freeney is eligible to play right away, and has four years to play three after enjoying a strong freshman season in which he had two interceptions and six pass breakups in seven games.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll be visiting Miami and I\u2019m excited to see the scenery, I know it\u2019s real beautiful,\u201d Freeney said. \u201cThe coaching staff seems real genuine and I want to check out everything before I make my decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

He anticipates making that decision shortly after that visit to UM.<\/p>\n

\u201cJune 8-9 I\u2019d like to know by,\u201d Freeney says.<\/p>\n

He said he\u2019d talked \u201ca little\u201d with Miami prior to landing the offer today. And he had limited time to speak with Addae when he got the offer because he was boarding a plane.<\/p>\n

Freeney has taken visits to Colorado and Oklahoma so far and has upcoming trips to Houston May 30-June 1and then Louisville June 2-4.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Addae, when he offered me I was very appreciative,\u201d Freeney said.<\/p>\n

Freeney had offers from Air Force and Idaho as a quarterback out of high school but opted to change positions to land more offers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI bet on myself, went to JUCO and switched positions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s paid off.<\/p>\n

The 6-1, 185-pounder says he\u2019s looking for a program \u201cthat can really develop me into the player and person I want to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miami coaches appear to still be unsure of the talent level the team has in the cornerbacks room, so it makes sense to add another physically talented player that can help the team at the position. Is it a little too late to the game for UM to just be offering when other programs have chased him longer? \u201cNo, not really,\u201d Freeney said. \u201cI want to give every school a fair opportunity. I want to see everything the school has to offer. I want to make the best decision for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
