Bo Bassett<\/strong>, the No. 1 wrestling recruit in the Class of 2026, narrowed down his list from Lima, Peru Wednesday.<\/p>\n

As per his weekly tradition<\/a>, Bassett revealed a graphic of his latest list, removing seven schools as the calendar hits the midway point of July. Right now, he\u2019s focused on wrestling in the Pan Ams for Team USA.<\/p>\n

As far as the schools that were eliminated this week, they were: Rider, Parkside, George Mason, Northwestern, West Liberty, Hofstra and CSU Bakersfield.<\/p>\n

Bassett wrestles at Bishop McCort Catholic High School in Pennsylvania and his teammate, fellow sophomore Jax Forrest, is the No. 5 pound for pound prospect in the country. Bassett and Forrest are the top two recruits in the Class of 2026 and just happen to wrestle for the same school.<\/p>\n

Ranked No. 1 at 144 pounds in the high school rankings, Bassett is seen as a generational prospect. He was the 2021 U17 gold medalist in freestyle wrestling and is a 2024 U20 World Team member at 65 KG.<\/p>\n

Bassett was also a 2024 Pennsylvania State Champion as a freshman.<\/p>\n

On a recent edition of Baschamania<\/em>, Bassett opened up on what he looked forward to in the recruiting process. One thing\u2019s for sure, he\u2019ll take his time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m extremely excited. It\u2019s gonna be fun,\u201d Bassett said prior to when coaches could officially call him.<\/a> \u201cThat post that I put out, I just kind of want to make the point that everyone\u2019s in the (running) and I\u2019m not really slotted in anywhere, I don\u2019t prefer any other schools over anyone else and I\u2019m really excited to be open as far as recruiting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to go see where I best fit and I think that there\u2019s a lot of different factors that I\u2019m looking into but I think it\u2019s just where I can\u00a0 be the most successful and get the you know, the most out of it. Going to take my visits, I\u2019m not going to commit on day one or probably within the first month to six months. I think that it\u2019s one of those things that I\u2019m going to take my time and really make the right decision, but you only get that decision once. And I\u2019m a pretty loyal guy so I don\u2019t really see myself transferring out ever. So I think wherever I go, that\u2019s where I\u2019m going to be for four maybe (five) years \u2026 so really excited for this process.\u201d<\/p>\n
