That might’ve been the cherry on top to a huge rise this offseason.

On3 now is highest on him in the industry, ranking him as the No. 270 overall prospect and No. 22 safety in the country.

Thomas is the son of former Ole Miss Rebel and NFL cornerback, Fred Thomas. LSU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine ahead of his decision on Saturday. He’ll pick from Colorado, Houston, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas Tech.

When On3 national scout Cody Bellaire saw him in-person, he saw the moment LSU offered Thomas.

“Jhase Thomas was definitely someone that commanded a lot of attention from the LSU staff,” Bellaire said on The Bengal Tiger Podcast. “When I tell you that this cat was offered directly after testing, he quite literally ran his 40, went to the warm-up area to wait for drills to start, the personnel staff ran the numbers to Brian Kelly. He calls Jhase over and boom, that’s it. Offered, done. Before he even works out. Obviously, one of the big questions they had with him going into this was some of the top end speed, overall athleticism and size.”

At 6-1, 175 pounds with frame to add substantial mass, Thomas ran 4.4 in the 40-yard dash twice and jumped over 35 inches in the vertical at LSU camp. He’s got tremendous upside to him as he readies for his senior season.

“I’m not sure the bar was necessarily that they were looking for, but he definitely surpassed it at the testing point,” Bellaire said. “The important thing to remember with Jhase is he’s younger for the cycle. This is a guy that won’t turn 18 until July going into his freshman year of college. He technically could be a 2026 prospect, if he wanted to be. I emphasize that because the numbers he’s laying down and the tape he has out there, you need to look at that through the lens of this kid should be going into his junior season, not his senior season. That’s very important context when looking at the testing and the film.”

Overall, Thomas has a chance to go even higher, if his senior season lives up to expectations.

“I really like the player,” Bellaire said. “I thought he looked excellent during the workout and I think his upside is super high. I can’t wait to see what his senior tape looks like.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Thomas is the No. 49 overall safety in the country and No. 10 prospect in Louisiana.

The post Why Louisiana DB Jhase Thomas is now an On300 prospect appeared first on On3.

2025 Destrehan (La.) defensive back Jhase Thomas was on LSU’s campus for camp earlier this summer and earned an…

[1

post-60063","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
