Joey Logano<\/strong>, who won the Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway<\/a> on Sunday, seems to have no issues with the race having five overtimes. While speaking to reporters after the race, the two-time Cup Series champion was asked about the multiple overtimes and if NASCAR needs to change the rule again. <\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cI mean, it obviously got pretty \u2014 anytime you have your cars running out of gas, there\u2019s a caution and you get going, they wreck because everyone is out of gas and all that, you\u2019re refiring on old tires, everyone is sliding around, gosh, you kind of can see it coming a little bit,\u201d Logano said.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cBut gosh, I don\u2019t know what you \u2014 I think you just keep doing it. I don\u2019t know. That\u2019s the rule. You keep doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the five overtimes and nearly running out of gas, Logano won the race to clinch a spot in this year\u2019s Cup Series playoffs. The 34-year-old has competed in a lot of Cup Series races in his career but never had a finish like he had on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot that comes to mind. Nothing that comes to mind that was like that,\u201d Logano told reporters. \u201cYeah, like I said, just a big one. Something that\u2019s cool, too, is the last eight weekends, Team Penske has put a car in Victory Lane across all the series that they race. We were the only ones that could do it this weekend because we were the only ones running. It was close, but it was cool to keep that streak alive for everyone at the race shop.\u201d<\/p>\n

How Joey Logano overcame his fuel situation at Nashville<\/h2>\n

Logano and Team Penske gambled and ran 110 laps on a final tank of fuel. When asked about winning despite the gas situation, Logano wasn\u2019t sure how he was able to pull it off. <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cIt takes a little bit of everything,\u201d he said. \u201cI think that\u2019s really what it was. There was obviously a lot of cautions within that period. A lot of cautions. Like I said, we didn\u2019t feel comfortable about it, but you go for it, and it\u2019s pretty risky when you think about where we were in the playoff grid. You really can\u2019t afford to have a bad one, but gosh, it\u2019s really hard to pit when you\u2019re in the lead and you\u2019re in position to win the race. \u201cYou just go for it and cross your fingers, say a couple prayers, and it worked out all right.\u201d<\/p>\n
