San Antonio Claudia Taylor Johnson<\/a><\/strong> four-star quarterback Ty Hawkins<\/a><\/strong> has been committed to TCU<\/a><\/strong> since last June, but other programs have yet to give up on his recruitment. One such program is in-state program and TCU rival, SMU<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hawkins told On3\u2019s Chad Simmons that he will take an official visit to Southern Methodist beginning this evening. The visit will stretch through Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He told On3 this week that it would be \u201cpretty hard\u201d to get him to change his mind about his commitment to TCU, but Hawkins will still hear the other schools out.<\/p>\n

SMU\u2019s quarterback situation changed drastically earlier this month when top-100 quarterback Keelon Russell<\/a><\/strong> flipped his commitment to Alabama. Now with that position in the Mustangs\u2019 class is wide open, and the staff in Dallas is pursuing Hawkins.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach\u00a0Jonathan Brewer<\/strong><\/a>, the quarterbacks coach, left and then, they got coach\u00a0D\u2019Eriq King<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d Hawkins said. \u201cThey\u2019ve stayed in contact with me during this whole process. They want to get me back on campus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawkins has had an impressive start to the summer already. He participated in the OT7 Championship 7-on-7 camp this past weekend. He also received an Elite 11 Finals invitation for this month in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

There are few higher honors for high school quarterbacks than being invited to the\u00a0Elite 11 Finals<\/a>. The event, which will celebrate its 25th year in 2024, brings together the country\u2019s elite signal-callers for three days of competition and training in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Elite 11 alumni include\u00a0Carson Palmer<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Andrew Luck<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Matthew Stafford<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Tim Tebow<\/a><\/strong>, and more recently\u00a0Trevor Lawrence<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0C.J. Stroud<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Bryce Young<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and more. Last year\u2019s Elite 11 Finals featured\u00a0more than a dozen of the top 20 quarterbacks in the\u00a0final On3 Industry Rankings<\/a>, including each of the top five players at the position.<\/p>\n

Hawkins is the nation\u2019s No. 149 overall prospect, No. 12 quarterback and No. 27 recruit from Texas in the 2025 cycle according to the\u00a0On3 Industry Ranking<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/p>\n

On3 is higher on Hawkins than the other major recruiting services. He ranks No. 87 nationally and is the No. 8 QB in the 2025 On300<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
