Kentucky women\u2019s basketball head coach Kenny Brooks<\/a><\/strong> added the 13th piece to his debut roster on Thursday when Oregon State transfer Dominika Paurov\u00e1<\/a><\/strong> committed to the Wildcats. <\/p>\n

A rising sophomore, Paurov\u00e1 is the eighth incoming transfer this offseason for Brooks, who has completely rebuilt the roster going into 2024-25. Clocking in as a 6-foot-1 guard, Paurov\u00e1 \u2014 a native of the Czech Republic \u2014 averaged 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 16.4 minutes per outing for the Beavers as a rookie in 2023-24. She shot 48 percent overall and 37.2 percent from deep.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m extremely excited to add Dom to our program,\u201d Brooks said in UK\u2019s press release<\/a>. \u201cHer experience on an elite eight team will be valuable to us, and her contributions over the next three years will help us into the future. I love her passion and versatility<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although playing time was limited for Paurov\u00e1, she was a member of a talented Oregon State squad that ultimately fell in the Elite 8 of the 2024 NCAA Tournament to eventual champion South Carolina. Paurov\u00e1 finished with just two points and three assists in 13 minutes played during that loss to the Gamecocks.<\/p>\n

However, arguably her best performance of the season came in the NCAA Tournament opener against Eastern Washington when she contributed a season-high 17 points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 26 minutes. Throughout her 35 appearances as a freshman, Paurov\u00e1 posted seven double-digit scoring games. <\/p>\n

Paurov\u00e1 is also a member of the Czech Republic National Team. She\u2019s played on the U14, U15, U18, U19, and U20 teams from 2018-23 and also cracked the Czech Senior National team for FIBA Women\u2019s Eurobasket qualifying. In 2022, she helped the U20 squad reach the FIBA European Championships Division A title game. <\/p>\n

Along with incoming Wildcat center Clara Silva<\/strong> out of Portugal, she and Paurov\u00e1 have been called \u201ctwo of the best European projects of their respective generations\u201d<\/a>. It sure is nice to have them both in Lexington.<\/p>\n
