High School

Michigan State will receive an official visit from the in-state four-star linebacker in June. Beasley’s half-brother is the Spartans’ starting tight end Maliq Carr. Despite the official visit and family ties, Michigan is the leader in the clubhouse to land Beasley’s commitment. The Belleville product has built a strong relationship with the Wolverines’ linebackers coach Chris Partridge, among other Michigan staffers.

The Spartans will have one final chance to sway Beasley’s mind, but the four-star linebacker is likely headed to Michigan. In that case, Michigan State will turn its attention to Long Beach (Calif.) Poly four-star Dylan Williams (6-2.5, 205), Los Angeles (Calif.) Campbell Hall four-star Kamar Mothudi (6-3, 215) and Oakland (Calif.) Fremont Senior four-star Naki Tuakoi (6-3, 230) at linebacker.

— Tyler Cherry, QB, Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove

The On3 four-star quarterback planned for a May commitment prior to his June official visits. Cherry, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound signal caller, was working on scheduling an official visit to Michigan State in June. All signs have pointed to Duke being the odds-on favorite to land the quarterback. Indiana seemed to be a player in Cherry’s recruitment at one point, but the in-state school has since faded. Cherry received an offer from Penn State on May 10, which could slow down his decision timeline. This could work in Michigan State’s favor if the four-star quarterback instead chooses to take his official visits before making a decision.

The Spartans seem keen on Cherry, along with Sacramento (Calif.) Junipero Serra QB Maealiuaki Smith (6-3, 180) and Marblehead (Mass.) Hun School QB Myles O’Neill (6-4, 218). These are the three names that seem to be at the top of the Spartans’ 2024 quarterback board. Even if Cherry does commit to Duke, Michigan State is likely to continue their pursuit of him. However, I expect Spartan offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jay Johnson to turn up the heat on O’Neill.

— Jalen Todd, CB, Southfield (Mich.) A&T

Todd, an in-state three-star cornerback, will officially visit Michigan State in June. Though a date has not yet been finalized, Todd told SpartanMag.com a visit would certainly happen. Michigan State has some ground to make up, though, with Iowa holding a commanding lead as the favorites to land a commitment from Todd at this time. Todd will officially visit Iowa on June 23. Additionally, Todd will take an official visit to Kansas on June 9.

Michigan State secondary coach Harlan Barnett and wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins saw Todd live during this week’s Detroit high school showcase. Todd has previously taken two unofficial visits to Michigan State. Iowa has had good success with defensive backs from the state of Michigan. If the Spartans can turn the tides during an official visit, Todd would be a great in-state pick up and an even better recruiting win.

— Decker DeGraaf, TE, Glendora (Calif.) High School

Michigan State will receive an official visit from the four-star tight end on June 16. DeGraaf joins a tight end board that the Spartans’ staff has expanded over the last month. DeGraaf will also officially visit Washington on June 24, the school currently viewed as the main contender to land his commitment. DeGraaf’s June official visit to East Lansing will be his first trip to Michigan State. The tight end has been in constant contact with Spartan tight ends coach Ted Gilmore.

Michigan State will look to land at least one of the three tight ends that have official visits scheduled in June. Alongside DeGraaf, Itasca (Ill.) Immaculate Conception four-star Eric Karner (6-5, 220) and Pinckneyville (Ill.) Community three-star Karsen Konkel (6-6, 225) will also visit East Lansing next month.

The post Intel: The latest on a number of Michigan State recruiting targets appeared first on On3.

With June official visits just weeks away, SpartanMag.com provides the latest on a number of…

[1

post-5497","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
