What Notre Dame QB commit Deuce Knight told on On3\u2019s JD Pickell during On3 Elite Series event<\/h2>\n

While at the On3 Elite Series event in Nashville last week, Notre Dame 2025 four-star quarterback commit\u00a0Deuce Knight<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0had a candid conversation with On3\u2019s\u00a0JD Pickell<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Knight, the On3 Industry Ranking\u2019s No. 7 quarterback and No. 54 overall player in the class, spoke about his relationship with the Irish coaching staff and others in an about six-minute long interview. Here is what he told Pickell.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On his relationship with Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock:\u00a0<\/h2>\n

\u201cCoach\u00a0(Mike) Denbrock<\/a><\/strong>, that\u2019s my guy. He\u2019s a funny guy. He always tries to joke around with you. But it\u2019s been good. He plans to utilize me in the run game, play action game. He wants to create explosive plays. I have the skill set to make explosive plays like he did last year.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Denbrock comparing Knight to reigning Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels:\u00a0<\/h2>\n

\u201c(Denbrock) throws up tape (of\u00a0Jayden Daniels<\/a><\/strong>) a lot when I come up there. He will pull up plays where we did the same thing. He\u2019ll be like, \u2018You\u2019re already doing it, so why not come do it here?\u2019 It\u2019s always good to go into a system you\u2019re familiar with because you know you\u2019ll fit.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has the Heisman Trophy winner attached to his name. He coached him up. That\u2019s a big thing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On training with Phillip Rivers and Riley Leonard:<\/h2>\n

\u201cThat was fun. I was around future pros and probably a future Hall of Famer, so that was great.\u00a0Riley (Leonard)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0conducts himself like a pro. A few weeks ago, Coach\u00a0David Morris<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from Quarterback Country told me, \u2018A great quarterback is a great receiver coach.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cThen, just working out with Riley Leonard, that\u2019s exactly what he was. He let his wide receivers know what he wanted, and they talked through things. It was great.<\/p>\n

\u201cLearning from\u00a0Phillip Rivers<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0was cool, just getting all the tips on how he picked defenses apart in the league. That was great.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On his discussions with Marcus Freeman:<\/h2>\n

\u201cCoach\u00a0(Marcus) Freeman<\/a><\/strong>, that\u2019s my guy. He always shows love. He will just hit me up out of nowhere and send me a picture of some fresh shoes or something. He\u2019ll call me, and we\u2019ll get on the phone. He always has a smile on his face and shows great love.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

On where things stand with Ole Miss:<\/h2>\n

\u201cThey stand good. Ole Miss, they stay hitting me up. They let me know that they are not going to stop until I sign, until I put pen to paper. It\u2019s been great.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey got Coach\u00a0(Lane) Kiffin<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0there and I feel like that kind of speaks for itself. He\u2019s an offensive mastermind. He has plenty of systems. He\u2019s not scared to start a freshman.\u00a0Jalen Hurts<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0started with him. So, it\u2019s been good.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the timeline of him finalizing a decision:<\/h2>\n

\u201cI am fully committed to Notre Dame. Right now, that\u2019s where I\u2019m going. I\u2019m just not going to stop communication. College football is a business. You never know what crazy things could happen. Then, you\u2019ll be like, \u2018Oh, man. I\u2019m out in the water.\u2019 You never know what could happen. It\u2019s life. It\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

On who else is contacting him:<\/h2>\n

\u201cSome schools are still talking to me. Alabama and Colorado. They both made sure to come down and see me in the spring. They still talk to me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On if he talks to Colorado head coach Deion Sanders:\u00a0<\/h2>\n

\u201cNot really. I talked to (Deion Sanders<\/a><\/strong>) once. He\u2019s a cool guy. He has a lot of knowledge and is a hall of famer, so talking to him is good.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On his impression of Kalen DeBoer at Alabama:<\/h2>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great. That\u2019s a staff I\u2019ve already known for a long time. Coach\u00a0(Kalen) DeBoer<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and (offensive coordinator\/quarterbacks) Coach\u00a0(Nick) Sheridan<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0coached my brother at Indiana. I\u2019ve known them for a long time.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Sheridan, he was at Indiana and gave me my first offer in eighth grade. That\u2019s a relationship I\u2019ll have for a long time. They just let me know they want to see me win no matter where I go.\u201d<\/p>\n

On which staff he has the best relationship with:<\/h2>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely Notre Dame.\u00a0Gino Guidugli<\/a><\/strong>, the quarterbacks coach \u2014 that\u2019s my guy. I can hit him up any time of the day or any time at night. He\u2019s always going to text back or give me a call. If he doesn\u2019t answer, he will call me right back.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c(Guidugli) just wants to see me be great. He wants me to make sure I can have the best senior season I can before I get to Notre Dame. That\u2019s about it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On who he is working on recruiting at the On3 Elite Series event:<\/h2>\n

\u201cJaDon Blair<\/a><\/strong>. That\u2019s who I need.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
