The 2024 MLB Draft is also approaching, and there are some intriguing prospects that will be in action during super regionals.

Before super regionals get underway, MLB Pipeline has revealed the top draft prospects to watch over the weekend. In a draft class that is expected to be college heavy, especially college bats, there are many players that will be looking to take advantage of the big stage.

Try Fubo for FREE today and don’t miss any of the action!

Just one pitcher is listed in the top 15, and that’s two-way star Jac Caglianone. Here is a full look at who will be in action during super regionals.

1. Oregon State 2B Travis Bazzana

© Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Travis Bazzana has a legitimate chance to be taken with the first overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. He is a career .362 hitter, and he’s in the midst of by far his best season yet. On the year, he’s hitting .415 with 28 home runs and 66 RBI.

“A guy who you know can hit .300 with 25 home runs a year and [play] average second base,” MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis wrote.

2. Georgia OF/3B Charlie Condon

(Photo: Kari Hodges/UGAAA)

Charlie Condon is another strong contender to be taken with the first overall pick. He’s the best power hitter in this draft class, currently with 36 on the season. He also has 77 RBI while hitting .445 in 57 games.

“He kind of looked like Charlie Condon at the beginning of the tournament and then the other teams were like, ‘Enough of this, we’ll just walk you. We’re not going to give you a chance to hit another home run,’” Callis said of Condon’s regional performance.

3. Florida 1B/LHP Jac Caglianone

Steven Branscombe | USA TODAY Sports

Jac Caglianone might be the most well-known star in college baseball. He can pitch and hit at a high level, and he doesn’t want to start thinking about the draft until Florida moves past super regionals. On the mound, he is 5-2 with a 4.57 ERA in 67 innings this season. At the plate, he’s hitting .410 with 31 home runs and 63 RBI.

“In his one start against Oklahoma State on June 1, he allowed four runs in five innings,” MLB Pipeline’s Sam Dykstra wrote. “All four runs came on homers, he did strike out eight. … I’m sure a lot of teams were like, ‘OK, listen, you’re a hitter. We’re gonna draft you at your best position, let you fly through the system in that way.’”

4. West Virginia SS/2B J.J. Wetherholt

Aaron E. Martinez / American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK

Though J.J. Wetherholt was limited to 34 games this season, he remains one of the top prospects in this year’s class. He’s currently hitting .345 with eight home runs and 30 RBI. Last season, he was .449 with 16 home runs and 60 RBI.

“I don’t think that anybody’s opinion of his tools or skills has fundamentally changed [because of his hamstring injury] … in terms of the offense, he’s hit when he’s been in the lineup,” Callis said.

5. Texas A&M OF Braden Montgomery

Credit: Texas A&M athletics

Braden Montgomery became one of college baseball’s top stars at Stanford to begin his career, and he continued that this season at Texas A&M. On the season, he’s hitting .322 with 27 home runs and 85 RBI. The top draft prospect is hoping to play a big role this weekend, as the Aggies look to advance past super regionals.

“He was a steady performer on a team that had a relatively easy path to the super regionals and that’s all you can ask for,” said Dykstra.

6. Florida State 3B Cam Smith

Florida State slugger Cam Smith prepares to face a pitch earlier this season. (Gene Williams/Warchant)

Cam Smith is having a tremendous season for Florida State. He hit 12 home runs in 2023, but this year improved all around. On the year, he’s hitting .396 with 16 home runs and 54 RBI.

“He went 0-for-5 against Stetson, but he rallied, hit homers in each of the next two games, drew three walks, [went] 4-for-11,” MLB.com wrote.

7. On the year, he is hitting .304 with 24 home runs and 62 RBI. There also might not be a better defensive center fielder in the country. If he can cut down on the strikeouts, he could become an everyday major leaguer.

“The potential is still there for Vance Honeycutt to impact any game that he plays, but it’s going to be tough for the Tar Heels to advance if they’re going to still get a lot of strikeouts from [him],” Dykstra wrote.

9. Tennessee 2B Christian Moore

Credit: NCAA Baseball

Christian Moore has been a steady presence in three years at Tennessee, but this was his breakout year. Moore is looking to show everyone why he is rising up draft boards during super regionals against Evansville.

“I think he’s climbing into the teens somewhere, maybe as high as No. 12 to the Red Sox,” wrote Callis.

10.
