*** I have logged an On3 Prediction in favor of Michigan for four-star Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph\u2019s Prep defensive lineman Maxwell Roy<\/a><\/strong>. I have been feeling very optimistic about Michigan\u2019s chances in this race and feel even better now that we are in the full swing of summer. Remember, Roy is set to make an official visit to Michigan on June 21. It wouldn\u2019t be surprising to see him make a decision at some point this month. Wisconsin and Rutgers are considered the two biggest threats here, but I\u2019m not overly concerned about either. Roy has been high on Michigan\u2019s board for a while, and the Wolverines would love to close with him. <\/p>\n

*** Roy is an extremely quiet kid and rarely does interviews. However, I have talked to him a couple of times in the past, and he had this to say about Michigan: \u201cThey\u2019ve put out a lot of great defensive linemen in the past. I really like seeing their work ethic and how technical the guys are. As a defensive lineman, I care a lot about watching technique and film. When I look at Michigan, I see the technique, speed and ability their defensive linemen have. That really impresses me.\u201d Development and defensive line production is definitely going a long way here. <\/p>\n

*** Relationships matter as well. New Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito has done a fantastic job of leading the way in this recruitment. Esposito made Roy a top target shortly after arriving in Ann Arbor and has been pressing hard over the last several weeks. Esposito may be new to the staff, but he\u2019s already had success on the trail, landing Nate Marshall, and brings a lot of energy. Michigan has been recruiting Roy for about two years. Area recruiter Grant Newsome initially extended the offer and has continued to be involved as well. <\/p>\n

*** I have had a chance to see Roy twice in person. I first saw him when he was at the Under Armour camp in New Jersey as an underclassmen and came away impressed. I had a lot of great things to say about him in the fall as well when I saw him go up against a very talented Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy team. Roy was powerful in the interior of the defensive line and showed great athleticism and quickness. His game reminded me of former Michigan defensive lineman Kris Jenkins. <\/p>\n
