Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris<\/a><\/strong> is happy with the progress Kirk Cousins<\/a><\/strong> has made when it comes to his health. While speaking to reporters last month<\/a>, Morris was asked about Cousins\u2019 status after suffering an Achilles injury with the Minnesota Vikings last year. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s doing everything that we\u2019re asking him to do right now,\u201d Morris said. \u201cWe\u2019re limiting him with some of the staff that we call with the movement and things of that nature. All the dropback stuff, he\u2019s in the pocket, he\u2019s able to handle the handoffs.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve seen him pretty much execute everything you would execute and we\u2019re treating him that way. The tempo up front is a little different in the offseason and who people that affect the quarterback and how they get around the quarterback, we know it\u2019s not the same as it would be in a game. But we\u2019re really excited on where he\u2019s at in his progress. We\u2019re really excited where he\u2019s at in his mental capacity to hold the offense and what he\u2019s able to do and bringing it all out for our guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Falcons signed Cousins to a four-year, $180 million deal in March and will be the team\u2019s franchise QB. However, Atlanta drafted Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8 overall in April, meaning that Cousins likely won\u2019t be with the team for his entire contract. <\/p>\n

How long will Kirk Cousins play in the NFL?<\/h2>\n

While appearing on Bussin with The Boys<\/em>, <\/a>Cousins revealed how long he wants to play in the NFL. \u201cI\u2019d like to play out this contract and maybe do one more,\u201d Cousins revealed. \u201c\u2026The boys will have a big play in it because if they\u2019re saying, \u2018Hey dad, we\u2019d really like to have you stop,\u2019 I\u2019m done. But if they\u2019re like \u2018Dad, you can\u2019t quit. You got to go. We\u2019re enjoying this. This is fun,\u2019 I would go. \u2026They love it right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

After signing with the Falcons, Cousins talked about being 100 percent when the Falcons started training camp in July. \u201cI\u2019m optimistic that I can be full speed at practice before we break for the summer \u2013 and that\u2019s kind of the goal I\u2019ve set for myself \u2013 but we do have a long runway,\u201d\u00a0he said, per the Falcons\u2019 official website<\/a>. What I\u2019ve been told, going back to when I first injured it, was that you don\u2019t rush it, you let time do its thing, and it\u2019s going to take time to fully heal that tissue. But as a competitor, you want to get back as fast as you can. Certainly, I\u2019m trying to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
