After an exciting round of Regional play, the Super Regionals have been set for the 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament. The action began on Thursday, and will continue throughout the afternoon and evening on Friday.<\/p>\n
Thursday\u2019s action saw Oklahoma<\/a><\/strong> defeat Florida State<\/a><\/strong> by a score of 11-3, and UCLA<\/strong><\/a> blank Georgia<\/a><\/strong> by a score of 8-0. Friday\u2019s action began with a showdown between Florida<\/a><\/strong> and\u00a0Baylor<\/a><\/strong>. While the Bears started off hot, the Gators came roaring back to take the lead in the bottom of the first inning, and held on for the 4-2 victory.<\/p>\n Try Fubo for FREE today and don\u2019t miss any of the action!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n In Friday\u2019s slate, Tennessee defeated Alabama 3-2 to move within one win of the WCWS. Oklahoma then clinched its eighth straight WCWS berth with a 4-2 victory over Florida State to continue its quest for an unprecedented four-peat.<\/p>\n Saturday\u2019s games got off to a roaring start with Baylor forcing an if-necessary game with a 5-2 victory over Florida. The Bears jumped out in front early on a three-run home run from Shaylon Govan and never looked back. Now, the two teams will square off Sunday for a spot in the Women\u2019s College World Series.<\/p>\n In Columbia, another if-necessary game is coming up, as well. Missouri and Duke squared off in a thrilling pitchers\u2019 duel out of the gate, and it was the Tigers who came out on top 3-1. That forces a decisive game three with a chance to head to Oklahoma City on the line.<\/p>\n The third game of the day was nothing short of a marathon. Alabama and Tennessee went 14 innings in Knoxville as the Crimson Tide tried to force an elimination game \u2013 and came just a couple feet from doing so in the 12th inning. Ultimately, in the 14th inning, Alabama got a clutch hit from Kristen White to come away with a 3-2 win and force Sunday\u2019s elimination game.<\/p>\n While that game ran so far over, a major upset was brewing in Austin. Texas was looking to avoid elimination against rival Texas A&M, which took a 5-1 lead into the sixth inning. But the Longhorns battled back to take a 6-5 lead, which grew to 8-5 in the top of the seventh. However, Texas A&M tied it up with two outs in the bottom of half of the inning and forced extras, all tied at 8-8.<\/p>\n Moreover, Super Regionals are a best-of-three series with the highest seeded team acting as the host for the games. The eight winners will advance to the Women\u2019s College World Series to play in a double-elimination style tournament for the chance at the national championship.<\/p>\n Super Regionals are set to begin May 23 and will continue through May 26.
