Georgetown<\/a> transfer Dontrez Styles<\/strong><\/a> is returning back to his home state. Styles has committed to NC State<\/a> after entering the transfer portal earlier this month.<\/p>\n

The North Carolina native averaged 12.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this past season while starting all 32 games for the Hoyas.<\/p>\n

Styles started his career in the ACC at North Carolina<\/a>, before transferring to Georgetown after two seasons. He played in 45 total games during his two seasons with the Tar Heels.<\/p>\n

Styles scored in double figures in 22 of 32 games during his first and only season with the Hoyas. He shot 43 percent from the field, nearly 37 percent from 3-point range and 77.6 percent from the free throw line.<\/p>\n

He was ranked as the No. 62 overall player in the country in the class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry rankings<\/a>. He attended Kinston High School in North Carolina and was named first-team all-state as a senior, before signing with UNC.<\/p>\n

As a freshman in 2021-22, Dontrez Styles appeared in 30 games, averaging 2 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. He played a key role in North Carolina\u2019s upset of No. 1 seed\u00a0Baylor<\/a>\u00a0in the NCAA Tournament that season, playing a season-high 24 minutes 57 seconds. He set season highs in points (9), field goals (4) and steals (2) that afternoon.<\/p>\n

In 2022-23, Styles had a lesser role for the Tar Heels, despite being a year older. He played in 15 games, averaging 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n

Across two seasons at North Carolina, Styles averaged 1.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game on 41.9 percent shooting from the field.<\/p>\n

Styles then entered the transfer portal, before ending up at Georgetown.<\/p>\n

While Styles had a strong season at Georgetown, overall the Hoyas did not. They went 9-23 (2-18) last season, including an 18-point loss to\u00a0Providence<\/a>\u00a0in the Big East tournament as Georgetown\u2019s season came to an end.<\/p>\n

As for NC State, the Wolfpack are coming off of an incredible run to end the 2023-24 season.<\/p>\n

NC State was the No. 10 seed in the ACC Tournament and had no shot of reaching the Big Dance before beating Louisville<\/a>, Syracuse<\/a>, Duke<\/a>, Virginia<\/a> and North Carolina over a five-game stretch to win the ACC tournament title.<\/p>\n

The run for the Wolfpack didn\u2019t stop there, though. They continued to have success in the NCAA Tournament, advancing all the way to the Final Four, before falling to Purdue<\/a> in a national semifinal game.<\/p>\n
