The University of Florida<\/a> is back on the road today, as Billy Napier\u2019s staff remains on the hunt with the spring evaluation period in full swing.<\/p>\n

On the schedule for today is one of the premier EDGE prospects in Jordan Ross<\/a>. Gators Online <\/strong>has learned that UF defensive line coach Sean Spencer will be stopping by his school today.<\/p>\n

Ross, who attends Vestavia Hills High in Birmingham, Alabama, is a prospect we have been mentioning more as of late. He took a last-minute trip to Gainesville less than a month ago, and in response to that, the top-50 prospect has now scheduled an official visit as well. That multi-day visit is set for June 2-4.<\/p>\n

Texas, Georgia, Oregon and Tennessee are on the official visit schedule for the four-star prospect as well.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the Gators\u2019 academic prestige, opportunity for early playing time, and the city of Gainesville that has UF climbing Ross\u2019 list right now. If it wasn\u2019t for last month\u2019s visit for spring practice, the Gators would not be receiving an official visit from the 6-foot-4.5, 215-pound defender.<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0On3 Industry Ranking<\/a>, an industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Ross checks in as the No. 4-ranked EDGE and No. 33-ranked prospect overall. He is a top-five junior in Alabama as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I first got on campus, it was different. Everyone was outside, the temperature was beautiful, everything was beautiful. Everyone was just so friendly. It was worth it,\u201d Ross previously told GO.<\/p>\n

\u201c(My interest is) pretty high now to be honest. I didn\u2019t think Florida would be this high now. It was pretty welcoming because the academics are great, and their whole town, there is so much to do in Florida,\u201d Ross said of the Gators\u2019 standing in his recruitment.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir apartments and dorms are perfect. Everything is right there. Gainesville, the city is like a college town.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0On3\u2019s Recruiting Prediction Machine<\/a>, Georgia holds the slight advantage over Tennessee. Those leading odds are currently at 23.4 percent.<\/p>\n

On3 Biography of Jordan Ross<\/h2>\n

Jordan Ross\u2019 nickname is \u201cChilds Play\u201d but his teammates and high school coach say there\u2019s nothing to kid about his game.<\/p>\n

Ross earned all-state, all-region, all-metro and even some All-America honors after the 2022 season. He recorded 16 tackles for a loss and had two defensive touchdowns for Vestavia Hills (Alabama) High School as a junior.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got length, and he\u2019s got great closing speed,\u201d legendary Vestavia Hills coach Buddy Anderson said.<\/p>\n

Ross reportedly clocked a 4.6-second 40-yard dash and recorded a 35-inch vertical leap in the summer before his junior season. \u201cHe jumps off the tape,\u201d Anderson said. Ross also jumps off the film on the basketball court, where he\u2019s center at Vestavia Hills.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m an unselfish player,\u201d Ross told TexAgs.com \u201cI give it all on every play that I\u2019m on the field. I want to be the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ross lists former Clemson Tiger star defensive lineman Bryan Bresee as his favorite player, and he studies Bresee\u2019s film a lot to help him improve his game.<\/p>\n

Away from football, Ross says his favorite musician is Nardo Rick, and his favorite meal is mac and cheese. Ross reports a 3.2 GPA, and he plans to major in earth and space science or in sports medicine. His parents are Jannie Ross and Andre Woody.<\/p>\n
