One of the most influential figures in college football visited one of the most historic cities in the United States this week. Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman<\/a><\/strong> went to the Aspire Hotel in Gettysburg, Pa., to speak to the Notre Dame Club of Gettysburg. <\/p>\n

The Battle of Gettysburg (1863) is known as the turning point of the U.S. Civil War. Union Major General George Meade\u2019s Army of the Potomac defeated Confederate General Robert E. Lee\u2019s Army of Northern Virginia over the course of three days in early July. Nearly 50,000 lives were lost, marking the most casualties of any battle in the war. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a place you\u2019ve obviously heard about throughout school and in history,\u201d Freeman told ABC27 News reporter Nick Petraccione<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cI really want at some point to be able to spend time in this wonderful place.\u201d <\/p>\n

According to UND.com<\/a><\/strong>, there were seven different ND clubs from around the area in attendance to hear Freeman speak. There was a fireside chat hosted by Executive Director of the Notre Dame Alumni Association, Dolly Duffy<\/strong>, followed by a Q and A with the audience. Per UND.com, the top-three questions centered on the transfer portal, name, image and likeness (NIL) and quarterback Sam Hartman<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Freeman\u2019s week also consisted of a visit to Under Armour\u2019s headquarters. <\/p>\n
