But he was not pleased at all by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panthers.com\/news\/panthers-select-safety-jammie-robinson-out-of-florida-state-in-fifth-round\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>how far he fell in the 2023 NFL Draft.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Robinson, a two-time first-team All-ACC selection, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/florida-state-seminoles\/news\/florida-state-safety-jammie-robinson-drafted-by-carolina-in-fifth-round\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>was taken with the 10th pick of the fifth round;<\/strong><\/a> No. 145 overall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been real upset since yesterday, I ain\u2019t going to lie to you sir,\u201d Robinson said to a reporter. \u201cI\u2019ve just been upset about this whole thing. But I know this pick is going to be the best pick in the draft. Carolina Panthers, y\u2019all know: I\u2019m fixing to come in, I\u2019m fixing to compete for a spot. \u2026 At the end of the day, I know there\u2019s not 144 guys better than me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just ready to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Falling to the fifth round when he was projected in many mock drafts to be selected in the third or fourth rounds has only added to the chip on Robinson\u2019s shoulder going into his rookie year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSalty\u2019s not the word. I\u2019m hurt \u2026,\u201d Robinson said. \u201cI know I was better than a lot of the guys who got picked. But honestly, I can\u2019t control that. I can\u2019t control what happened. All I can control is the next chapter. And the next chapter is about to be a great route for me and my family, and the fans as well. Because I plan on being in Carolina my whole career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robinson, who started his college career at South Carolina before transferring to Florida State, was very productive in his two seasons with the Seminoles. In 2021, he registered 85 tackles, including seven for loss, and a had a team-high four interceptions. Last year, he racked up 99 tackles and one interception.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked which one of his college plays best represents who he is, Robinson brought up a highlight that will bring a smile to many Florida State fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMiami, what I did to the QB, when I just threw him down \u2026,\u201d he said. \u201cI feel like the play from Miami for sure just signifies me. Just showing that I\u2019m a dog. While they never played together at Florida State, Robinson said he has seen a lot of highlights from Burns\u2019 Florida State career.<\/p>\n<p>Burns was a first-round pick for the Panthers back in 2019 and has made the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers hope they are getting another impactful former Seminole in Robinson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, he\u2019s just a tough competitor,\u201d Carolina head coach Frank Reich said, when asked if Robinson projects as a safety or nickelback at the next level. \u201cI don\u2019t want to put him into a box just yet. We want to get to know him even more once he gets here. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s the kind of guy \u2026 high character, tough, edgy. You know, has an edge to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked a similar question, Robinson said he is going to go back to how he has always played, whether at South Carolina or Florida State.
