The Bloody Tuesday after Georgia\u2019s spring game is predictable in some ways, & unpredictable in others. Plus, I get to revisit a certain take about Jalen Carter.<\/p>\n

Bloody Tuesday can get ya hurt if you\u2019re a Georgia Bulldogs football player.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the toughest practice of the week during the football season.<\/p>\n

At DawgsHQ, it\u2019s the toughest column of the week for all of your hot takes.<\/p>\n

No one holds anyone accountable on social media or in \u2018the media biz\u2019 when it comes to hot-take dissemination. <\/p>\n

But I do.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start Bloody Tuesday with the biggest news that came out of Georgia\u2019s spring game:<\/p>\n

Bear Alexander<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a><\/span>\n<\/div>\n

The take: Bear Alexander was a bad teammate<\/h2>\n

This is one that shot out of the echo chamber with a vengeance on Saturday, just after Alexander entered the transfer portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That is to say, just after we learned<\/em> that Bear Alexander was in the transfer portal.<\/p>\n

This happens any time a player enters the portal these days.<\/p>\n

Fans immediately go into \u2018well I\u2019m glad he\u2019s gone because\u2019 mode.<\/p>\n

And the narrative around Alexander went from \u2018oh it\u2019s just NIL<\/a>-related,\u2019 to \u2018that guy just didn\u2019t fit in at Georgia\u2019 in a hurry.<\/p>\n

Well, it seems like this smoke has some fire to it.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t write this because I have any personal issue with Alexander. But I am sharing what I heard from people around the program.<\/p>\n

There is no love lost between Bear and his soon-to-be-former Bulldogs teammates once his portal destination becomes official.<\/p>\n

That isn\u2019t an indictment on Alexander as a person. To me, it just shows how difficult it is to succeed at Georgia.<\/p>\n

You may be a talented individual. But individuals alone don\u2019t succeed in Athens. Talented individuals who live that whole \u2018team\u2019 thing succeed in Athens.<\/p>\n

Remember all those \u2018culture\u2019 concerns at Georgia a few weeks ago?<\/p>\n

What better indication do you have about the health of Georgia\u2019s culture than to see transfer portal moves like this?<\/p>\n

Not all transfers are the same. Some guys need more playing time. Some guys want to go back home and some guys just don\u2019t fit.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s probably a good thing that Georgia football leaders helped Alexander learn the last option with some tough accountability, if he didn\u2019t figure it out on his own.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>\n<\/div>\n

The take: Georgia\u2019s quarterback race is over.<\/h2>\n

Spring game quick decisions are the hottest College Football takes this time of year.<\/p>\n

Just like stars, the hottest ones tend to burn out the quickest.<\/p>\n

I think that\u2019s a fact. I think I remember learning that in Astronomy 101 my freshman year. Don\u2019t hold me to it.<\/p>\n

Look, Carson Beck<\/a><\/strong> has the lead over Brock Vandagriff<\/a><\/strong> right now. He 100% does. The spring game showed that, and if you don\u2019t think it\u2019s the case, then you watched a different ball game.<\/p>\n

But how often do we see the best Georgia quarterback play the best at G-Day?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not saying that Beck is a fraud.<\/p>\n

I just want to remind you that the clear number-one at G-Day isn\u2019t always the clear number-one by the season opener or the season finale.<\/p>\n

Let it breathe. We haven\u2019t heard anything about Brock Vandagriff or Gunner Stockton hitting the portal just yet.<\/p>\n

We got all summer to let this thing ride and see workout clips of these dudes stir the internet\u2019s collective pot.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a><\/span>\n<\/div>\n

The take: Jalen Carter<\/a><\/strong> won\u2019t escape the top ten of the NFL Draft<\/h2>\n

No one likes a know-it-all.<\/p>\n

But I don\u2019t write these things so you will like me.<\/p>\n

And look what we have here, despite what all the prisoners of the moment said after Jalen Carter\u2019s legal issues back in March:<\/p>\n

Several NFL scouts and coaches reportedly believe Jalen Carter is the \u201cbest overall\u201d defensive talent the NFL Draft has seen in the past decade.<\/p>\n

The Steelers are reportedly \u201cready\u201d to trade up for Carter if he\u2019s available 9th overall.<\/p>\n

Sometimes things are ambiguous. Sometimes things are just too easy to spot. Unless there is another unsavory update about Jalen Carter between now and the NFL Draft, do you really expect him to be outside of the top 10?<\/p>\n
