Tyler Legacy High School in Texas has been a familiar program for Nick Saban<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s staff in recent years. Alabama has signed a blue-chip prospect from the school in two consecutive classes: Jam Miller<\/a><\/strong> (2022) and Jordan Renaud<\/a><\/strong> (2023). <\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the Crimson Tide extended an offer to four-star EDGE Travis Jackson<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was shocked. I\u2019m not going to lie,\u201d Jackson told BamaInsider<\/strong>. \u201cIt was crazy. [Coach Holmon Wiggins<\/a><\/strong>] said they like my speed, my athleticism, and my effort. Every play, I\u2019m putting in 100 percent effort no matter what.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson went on to add that Wiggins stopped by Tyler Legacy to see Renaud a few months ago. He later told Jackson that he wanted to see him put on more weight; since then, Jackson has gone from 215 pounds to 233 pounds.<\/p>\n

The top-30 EDGE prospect, who plans on camping at Bama in early June, detailed his early interest in the Tide.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s Alabama, they\u2019re going to be up there regardless,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cI\u2019ve got 13 offers, but they\u2019re already top five. It\u2019s their work ethic, their culture, their mindset. They just want to win. Nothing else is talked about. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t expect to lose\u2026 their mindset is to win every game, every time, against anybody they play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson receives message from former teammate, current Alabama DL Jordan Renaud<\/h2>\n

During their time in high school together, Jackson and Renaud chopped it up with each other almost every day. The two spoke at length following Jackson\u2019s offer from Alabama this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe talked for 40 minutes,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cHe said that they work every day. It\u2019s a big change, but he\u2019s happy about the change. He said, \u2018If you come to Bama, be ready to work.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Renaud didn\u2019t mention position coach Freddie Roach<\/a><\/strong> in that conversation with Jackson. Jackson, however, is familiar with Alabama\u2019s d-line coach as he camped in Tuscaloosa last summer. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s going to push you,\u201d Jackson said of Roach. \u201cEvery day, he has high expectations. He wants 100 percent out of you. He wants you to be the best you can be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson is also intrigued by the way that Roach and Company utilize their pass rushers at Bama. <\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like they set them up in a good position to kind of do both,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cThey set [Will Anderson Jr.<\/a><\/strong>] up really, really good to where he can do his little thing with the pass rush, but also stop the run. Dallas Turner<\/a><\/strong>, they set him up good, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking at his upcoming itinerary, Jackson will be at TCU\u2019s spring game on Friday and is considering a trip to Oklahoma State on April 22. He has official visits locked in to Kansas State (June 20-21) and Oregon State (June 23-24).<\/p>\n

Jackson, who is eyeing a potential August commitment, laid out the most important factors for him in his recruitment. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to go into college and start first year\u2026 it would be a blessing if I get to,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cBut I just want to be developed by a school that actually cares about me and wants me. Also, just the school and education.\u201d<\/p>\n
