The Arkansas<\/strong><\/a> football team will have the unenviable task of replacing its top two wide receivers on the team from the 2022 season, leaving the onus to produce on a handful of younger players.<\/p>\n

Arkansas coach Sam Pittman<\/a><\/strong> likes what he has in the group, but he\u2019s not sure if there\u2019s a standout just yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere really hasn\u2019t been a wideout that you go, \u2018That\u2019s the guy,\u2019 yet,\u201d Pittman said after a recent practice. \u201cProbably the closest thing to that has been Bryce (Stephens)<\/a><\/strong>. We do feel comfortable with who\u2019s out there, but you\u2019re talking about a guy to catch for 700, 1,000 yards, something like that. I don\u2019t know that that guy has yet identified himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not saying that he\u2019s not on the team, I just don\u2019t know that we know for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot of lost production to replace.<\/p>\n

Matt Landers<\/a><\/strong> led the team last season with 47 catches for 901 yards and eight touchdowns. Jadon Haselwood<\/a><\/strong> was right behind him with 59 catches for 702 yards and three touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Arkansas might have some players that can replace him, but it\u2019s possible the top wide receiver is injured right now.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs of right now I guess we have to understand a little bit is Tyrone Broden<\/a><\/strong> had a little bit of an MCL issue, non-surgical. He was out there a little bit today, but not necessarily healthy. And of course we know about Jaedon Wilson<\/a><\/strong>. So those two guys aren\u2019t out there right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Broden is a transfer from Bowling Green<\/strong><\/a> who caught 32 passes for 506 yards and seven touchdowns, while Wilson caught three passes for 49 yards last season<\/a> at Arkansas.<\/p>\n

Both will help, while a number of other transfers are also expected to make an impact.<\/p>\n

Right now, though, Pittman mostly sees a group still getting its feet under it in practice. There\u2019s no top wide receiver yet and there\u2019s a lot to learn, which is impacting how the group plays at the moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of that is speed that you\u2019re playing and it\u2019s hard to play fast, fast when you\u2019re still trying to concentrate on, \u2018Where am I supposed to be? What\u2019s my alignment? What\u2019s my route? What\u2019s my timing? What am I in the progression?’\u201d Pittman explained. \u201cThose things like that. I felt like they got a little bit better today and I think that\u2019s with their install has about ceased at this point in time.\u201d<\/p>\n
