Trey Washington had to be told he was Ole Miss\u2019 leading tackler through six weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c(Ole Miss linebacker) Ashanti (Cistrunk) told me in the workout,\u201d Washington said Monday<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cI didn\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Washington \u2014 who\u2019s tied for sixth in the SEC in tackles (42) \u2014 has let his play do all the talking.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Rebels are 5-1 (2-1 SEC) overall and have climbed to No. 13 in the AP Top 25<\/a><\/strong> following their 27-20 win over Arkansas on Saturday. They\u2019re off this week before traveling to Auburn October 21.<\/p>\n

Kickoff on the Plains, as announced Monday, is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just trying to be the best player this team needs,\u201d Washington said.<\/p>\n

Washington couldn\u2019t have been better against the Razorbacks. <\/h2>\n

He again topped the team in tackles (10). The Rebels, collectively, forced two turnovers and held Arkansas to just 36 rushing yards, the lowest for Ole Miss against an SEC foe since 2014.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously we thought we were going to be undefeated,\u201d Washington said of the Rebels\u2019 mindset entering the bye. \u201cWe\u2019re one loss short of that, but it is what it is. It\u2019s time to keep going and keep improving.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m confident in this defense. We\u2019ve got a lot of people across the room that are performing well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Washington was one of three players to meet the media on Monday. He was joined by fellow Ole Miss veterans Ulysses Bentley IV (running back) and Caleb Warren (center).\u00a0<\/p>\n
