Emerging 2024 recruit Gregory Smith<\/a><\/strong> from Riverview (Fla.) Sumner has picked up some big offers since Thursday including Nebraska<\/a>. The Huskers offered Smith on Sunday. Nebraska\u2019s assistant coach reached out to Smith over social media. Smith says that it\u2019s late in the process to begin the recruiting relationship, but not too late for the Huskers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe attention from Nebraska is very recent,\u201d Smith said. \u201cThe coach hit me up. He was saying they were losing some guys and that I could come in and play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just so there are no questions about which position Smith is being recruited to play for the Huskers, Nebraska\u2019s defensive backs position coach contacted Smith.<\/p>\n

\u201cNebraska likes me on defense,\u201d Smith said. \u201cThey said that they see me mainly as a safety and also as a cornerback.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Cooper is the coach from Nebraska who contacted me. He hit me up over Twitter. We have started to get to know each other and things like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith is planning on taking an official visit to Nebraska. In the limited conversation, there has yet to be a chance to schedule the visit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are planning on taking an official visit to Nebraska,\u201d Smith said. \u201cI didn\u2019t get a chance to schedule one yet. We are still talking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gregory Smith plans to take a lot of visits leading up to signing day<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Smith is actually on a visit this weekend. He hasn\u2019t taken any official visits yet and says he will begin setting up those visits soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am in Gainesville this weekend for an unofficial visit, and I haven\u2019t taken any official visits yet. We are looking at getting them set up in November and December.<\/p>\n

There are several schools that Smith says he plans to visit. The list of schools he wants to see grows because the offer list is also increasing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will be visiting Iowa State, Ole Miss, Virginia, Florida, USF, Vanderbilt, Howard, and Nebraska. I have picked up offers from Florida, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska since Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nebraska and others are entering the picture late for Smith. While it is late, Smith says there is still time for the schools that have recently offered.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not too late,\u201d Smith said. \u201cWe can still get things going when it comes to recruiting. I am trying to get with the Nebraska coach about a date for the visit.\u201d<\/p>\n
