Sardia (Miss.) North Panola four-star wide receiver JJ Harrell <\/a><\/strong>is already pledged to the in-state Mississippi State Bulldogs. <\/p>\n

The No. 173 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings <\/a>committed to back on June 20 after originally being committed to Tennessee. The four-star is locked in at the moment. He called his recruitment closed over the summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m committed to State at this point, and everyone knows that,\u201d Harrell said.<\/p>\n

There is a school that has intensified their pursuit. It\u2019s also a school Harrell answers the phone for. The team\u2019s wide receiver coach has been a big part of that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI answer the phone for Georgia and stuff like that because coach (Bryan) McClendon<\/a><\/strong> has always been one of those genuine coaches,\u201d Harrell said. \u201cI always listen when he talks. It\u2019s over 1 million kids in the world that want to play college football and all of them don\u2019t get that chance. I\u2019ve got over 30 offers; God blessed me with a chance to go to over 30 schools.\u201d<\/p>\n

McClendon is working to get the four-star on campus at some point \u2018soon\u2019. <\/p>\n

Wide receiver a position of need at Georgia<\/h2>\n

McClendon has been working to get Harrell on campus for a visit. The Bulldogs recently lost a wide receiver commitment from four-star Ny Carr<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

That has been part of Georgia\u2019s pitch since their reconvening with Harrell.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was telling me all the opportunities at stake,\u201d Harrell said. \u201cHe told me about the lack of wide receiver spots and that I could come in and contribute and all this. It was cool. I love when people think that I\u2019m a great player. I\u2019ve put in countless hours. It feels good to get rewarded, but you\u2019ve got to keep going and be humble. There\u2019s more work out there to do and more things to improve on. I can\u2019t settle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Georgia\u2019s recent winning history is also a major piece of having Harrell\u2019s ear for now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last two years, Georgia has won national championships,\u201d Harrell said. \u201cThat\u2019s the best team in the world. Women lie, men lie, numbers don\u2019t lie. You really can\u2019t deny that they\u2019re one of those schools.\u201d<\/p>\n

Passing attack potential at Georgia has JJ Harrell taking note<\/h2>\n

Harrell has also heard from Georgia\u2019s future signal caller, five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola. Raiola has been touching base with Harrell for the last two weeks or so. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s already assembled a pitch for Harrell.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just told me who he was and said he wanted to reach out and see how the season had been going,\u201d Harrell said. \u201cHe\u2019s just telling me what I could do to be better. He was like \u2018you know how crazy we would be at UGA\u2019. He was like we could be another Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow. He\u2019s recruiting me hard. He said he needs that one guy that you can go to whenever you need him. He said I\u2019m that guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harrell couldn\u2019t hide being flattered hearing praise from one of the nation\u2019s best 2024 signal callers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI support him, I watch his highlights on YouTube and he\u2019s a great quarterback,\u201d Harrell said. \u201cTo hear that from him, it was cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

The current iteration of Georgia\u2019s offense has been something of note for Harrell as well. Georgia is 10th in passing yards per game in the nation.<\/p>\n

Harrell can\u2019t deny that production from Georgia\u2019s passing attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re top 10 in the country in passing,\u201d Harrell said. \u201cSo, for a receiver when you see that it\u2019s crazy, they\u2019re airing the ball out. That\u2019s impressing me a little bit\u2026 Men lie, women lie, numbers don\u2019t lie.\u201d<\/p>\n
