The 2023 season is officially underway for NC State football,<\/em>\u00a0and there will be no shortage of news between now and the Wolfpack\u2019s season opener. Our daily \u2018Newsstands\u2019 will be a way for our readers to catch up on what they missed from the day before.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

TheWolfpacker.com\u2019s Wednesday Morning Newsstand<\/h2>\n

NC State<\/a> fell to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the ACC after a 13-10 loss to Louisville headlined by an elite defensive effort complemented by very little production from the offense. Following the program\u2019s second defeat of the year, it fell one spot in On3\u2019s weekly conference power rankings<\/a> to No. 9.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wolfpack had a strong showing defensively against an explosive Louisville offense, but\u00a0Brennan Armstrong<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and the rest of the NC State offense continued to struggle. Because of that, NC State is making a change at quarterback and\u00a0going with MJ Morris<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sophomore is set to start for the Wolfpack on Saturday against Marshall. Morris has yet to play in a game this season, but he did account for eight touchdowns, with only one interception, in 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n

NC State slots in-between No. 8 Wake Forest and No. 10 Virginia Tech. The program is still scheduled to play 5 teams in the power rankings\u2019 top 8.<\/p>\n

Moving forward, the Wolfpack enters a new phase of this season with MJ Morris<\/a><\/strong> at starting quarterback. His first test as a sophomore will be against undefeated Sun Belt foe Marshall. Morris threw for 648 yards as a true freshman, leading NC State to a comeback win over Virginia Tech, an impressive victory over Wake Forest and a senior day loss to Boston College. <\/p>\n
