There\u2019s going to come a time when South Carolina will have to move on from Spencer Rattler<\/a><\/strong>. After this season, the Gamecocks will have to find their next quarterback. <\/p>\n

Who could that guy be? Well, several players could fill that void. One name in particular that has stood out in his short time with the team has been LaNorris Sellers<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

A four-star South Florence quarterback that flipped from a long-time commitment to Syracuse, Sellers is going through his first spring practice with the Gamecocks. <\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day, he comes in and puts his head down and works,\u201d Luke Doty said. \u201cWhether that be coming in early to get extra reps in the film room or coming back up after practice during the evenings with me and going through it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doty, a veteran who\u2019s been working with the younger quarterbacks, said Sellers reminds him of himself. <\/p>\n

\u201cJust his willingness to do the extra things that people don\u2019t really see. That\u2019s what stood out to me,\u201d he said. \u201cThe drive that he has to learn, to get better and to do things out there on the field that are going to set him apart, that stood out to me.\u201d <\/p>\n

It also hasn\u2019t taken Sellers very long to make a good impression on his pass catchers.<\/p>\n

\u201cLaNorris is my guy, man. When he first got here, he thought he was good at Madden. Played him a couple of times and showed him that he needs to practice a little bit,\u201d Ahmarean Brown said, laughing. \u201cBut that\u2019s my man. He\u2019s gotten a couple of good reps. He\u2019s going to be special. I think when he has time to grow a little bit and sit behind Spencer and watch what Spencer does.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sellers was the only quarterback signed by the Gamecocks in the class of 2023. He took a big leap forward in progression during his senior year of high school, making a name for himself in recruiting. He completed 150-of-258 passes for 2,948 yards with 45 touchdowns and two interceptions. <\/p>\n

Something that could be beneficial to him in the future is his ability to make plays with his legs. He ran for 1,338 yards and 17 touchdowns last year with the Bruins.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we leave a gap open or a seam, and he got an opportunity to run, he\u2019s going to take it, man,\u201d Tyreek Johnson said. \u201cHe\u2019s just so fast.\u201d<\/p>\n

At least for this season, Sellers won\u2019t see much playing time on the field, rather learning from Rattler and Doty amongst others. But when his opportunity does come, he could be the next star for the Gamecocks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s going to grow into a great quarterback. He has a strong arm, he has great legs,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI think his best days are ahead of him.\u201d <\/p>\n
