Five-star 2025 Michigan defensive back target DJ Pickett<\/a><\/strong> scored a touchdown and helped lead Zephyrhills (Fla.) High to a 35-13 win over New Port Richey (Fla.) Gulf on Friday night. <\/p>\n

The Wolverine\u2019s\u00a0<\/em>EJ Holland\u00a0<\/strong>was onsite and captured exclusive clips from the contest. Watch highlights of Pickett in the video above.<\/p>\n

Pickett Recruitment<\/h2>\n

Pickett is arguably the most important defensive target for Michigan in the 2025 recruiting class. The Wolverines are making him a top priority and have already hosted him for three unofficial visits.<\/p>\n

The latest trip to Ann Arbor came in the summer as Pickett met with head coach Jim Harbaugh, worked out with co-defensive coordinator and area recruiter Steve Clinkscale and got another in-depth look at the program.<\/p>\n

While Pickett has not released a top schools list, it\u2019s clear Michigan is a strong contender early on in his recruitment.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichigan is a special place,\u201d Pickett said. \u201cEvery time I go up there, it feels like home. I have family up there. My grandma lives maybe an hour away. I have chemistry with the coaches. I just love Michigan a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with Michigan, Pickett has offers in hand from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Oregon, Miami, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M and a number of other major programs.<\/p>\n

At 6-foot-3, 170 pounds, Pickett is ranked as the No. 1 safety and No. 8 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Florida for next cycle.<\/p>\n

Michigan has two verbal commitments in its 2025 recruiting class in Top 100 Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna defensive back Chris Ewald and four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka. The class is currently ranked No. 17 nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. <\/p>\n
