On Saturday, Ole Miss hosted 2025 Ashdown (Ark.) athlete\u00a0Darnell Williams<\/a><\/strong> while the Rebels soundly defeated Georgia Tech, 48-23. Afterwards, more fireworks happened on Sunday when the junior prospect from the Natural State announced his commitment to Ole Miss<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Williams chose the Rebels over notable early offers from Florida State, Florida, Clemson, South Carolina and Tennessee. Georgia, Oklahoma State and TCU are also interested.<\/p>\n

The 5-foot-11, 175 pound prospect was an All-State selection and a two-way player who shines at running back and defensive back. He was recognized by On3\u2019s Charles Power\u00a0On3 2025 Football Prospect Watch List<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Williams spoke with On3\u2019s Sam Spiegelman earlier this year about his connection with Ole Miss.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cOle Miss called me first,\u201d Williams said. \u201cThey were the first school to tell me they want me there, to be down there and build a bond with the coaches.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefense is my prime,\u201d he added. \u201cDefense at Ole Miss is legit and I like it.\u00a0Derrick (Nix)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is cool and calls me to get me down there. I need to get there to keep building our relationship and get close.\u201d<\/p>\n

Darnell Williams is Ole Miss\u2019 first 2025 commit.<\/h2>\n

Williams is the No. 298 overall prospect, according to the\u00a0On3 Industry Ranking<\/strong><\/a>, a weighted average which utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.\u00a0He is also the No. 2-rated recruit in Arkansas for next year\u2019s recruiting class and the 19th-ranked athlete in the 2025 class.<\/p>\n

As a sophomore, Williams finished the year with 35 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions and one punt return touchdown.\u00a0His head coach, Matt Richardson, spoke with the Arkansas Democrat Gazette about his game and what he believes he brings to the table<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a playmaker. Offensively, you hand him the ball, he walks off, and, defensively, you out him out at corner and he rocks people\u2019s world. TCU running backs Coach (Anthony) Jones is in love with him. He wants to meet him. So as soon as the dead period is over we\u2019re taking him to TCU.<\/p>\n

The Razorbacks have met him two or three times because he\u2019s been up with Shamar (Easter). I think he\u2019s a DB. I like him at DB because he will knock your head off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ole Miss has several top targets in the Mississippi 2025 class who could join Darnell Williams.<\/h2>\n
