{"id":16700,"date":"2023-09-15T01:34:41","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T06:34:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demo.wztzfm.com\/wp\/?p=16700"},"modified":"2023-09-15T01:34:41","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T06:34:41","slug":"ole-miss-dl-desanto-rollins-files-lawsuit-against-university-lane-kiffin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.wztzfm.com\/wp\/ole-miss-dl-desanto-rollins-files-lawsuit-against-university-lane-kiffin\/","title":{"rendered":"Ole Miss DL DeSanto Rollins files lawsuit against university, Lane Kiffin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/ole-miss-rebels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ole Miss<\/a><\/strong> defensive tackle <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/desanto-rollins-35323\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DeSanto Rollins<\/a><\/strong> has filed a lawsuit against the university and head coach <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/coach\/lane-kiffin-135051\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lane Kiffin<\/a><\/strong>, according to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/38402005\/ole-miss-dt-desanto-rollins-sues-kiffin-school-mental-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN\u2019s Heather Dinich<\/a><\/strong>. He alleged he didn\u2019t receive proper care from the university for mental health problems he dealt with last season and was kicked off the team recently.<\/p>\n<p>Rollins, who was still listed as a redshirt junior on the team\u2019s official roster as of 9:30 p.m. ET Thursday, is seeking $10 million in compensatory damages and $30 million in punitive damages with the suit, according to Dinich. He\u2019s suing Kiffin for multiple allegations such as failing to provide equal protection and racial and sexual discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>The university addressed the matter in a statement to ESPN, saying Rollins wasn\u2019t kicked off the team and is still on his scholarship. Kiffin declined comment and deferred to the university\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have not received a lawsuit,\u201d the statement read. \u201cDeSanto was never removed from the football team and remains on scholarship.
