His 24.0 yards per reception average is second in the SEC. Tight end Amari Niblack is not far behind him in third place with a YPC of 23.5 after the first two games. Niblack has turned four receptions in 94 yards. Burton and Niblack have scored two touchdowns apiece, which is tied for sixth in the SEC.

– True freshman safety Caleb Downs paced the Tide defense in tackles for a second week in a row, this time finishing with 10 total stops against Texas. He leads Alabama with 18 tackles two games into his career, and that’s a total that is tied for sixth place in the conference following Week 2’s games. Fellow defensive backs Terrion Arnold and Malachi Moore have two defended passes each and are tied for the eighth-most in the league.

– There weren’t a lot of bright spots in Alabama’s loss to the Longhorns, but the Tide specialists played well. James Burnip punted five times and, even with one shank, finished with 263 yards for a whopping average of 52.6 yards per boot. Three of Burnip’s punts Saturday traveled 50 or more yards, including a long of 61, bringing his average to start the year to 50.25. That leads the SEC and is good for fifth in the nation among punters with 3.6 punts per game.

– Placekicker Will Reichard also turned in a strong performance with three made field goals on 42-, 30- and 51-yard attempts and two extra points. His final make of the night was Reichard’s sixth kick of 50 or more yards of his career, moving him into second on the school’s all-time list behind Van Tiffin (7 from 1983-86). Reichard has also improved on kickoffs. He leads the SEC at 64.92 yards per kickoff and is currently fifth in touchback percentage (76.92).

– Alabama’s defense wasn’t able to record a sack in Saturday’s matchup with Texas, marking just the seventh game in the last five years with no Tide player bringing down the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. Alabama is tied for 10th in the league with only three sacks from its season opener. On the opposite side of the ball, UA’s offensive line allowed UT to record five sacks. The seven sacks the Tide has given up rank 13th in the SEC.

The post Stat Pack: Where Alabama stands statistically after Game 2 appeared first on On3.

Alabama is two games into its 2023 regular-season schedule, and the nation’s No. 10 team…

[1

post-16352","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
