That’s Rash Stadium, home of the Owensboro Red Devils (1-2), where they will host the No. 12 Owensboro Catholic Aces (3-0). When you’ve got two good teams in the same city, you can bet the whole town will be there to watch the two battle for the unwritten decoration of kings of the city.

The Aces are coming in with a 3-7 record against the Red Devils over the past 10 years. Two of those wins happened after head coach Jason Morris took over in 2018. They’ll be playing right down the road from their home field, Steele Stadium, to enter enemy territory with a perfect 3-0 record so far this season.

These teams are coming in with nothing to lose and everything to prove. Let’s see how they match up for Friday night.

Owensboro Catholic’s Dominant Offense

The Aces haven’t only beaten the teams they’ve played this season, they’ve dominated them. Junior quarterback Brady Atwell has tallied 956 yards total with 883 yards passing, 14 touchdown receptions, 73 yards on-foot, and three rushing touchdowns.

Another huge contributor is senior receiver William “Tutt” Carrico. He holds 336 receiving yards under his belt accompanied by seven touchdowns. Junior Waryn Ebelhar and senior Noah Rhinerson are also go-to’s for the Aces offense, combining for 415 yards receiving and five touchdowns.

When they smacked Greenwood 43-13 last Friday, Owensboro Catholic read their opponents’ demeanor and refused to take their foot on the gas. The rivalry component just adds a whole new layer to the fire that they’ll come out playing with this Friday.

Owensboro’s Momentum

The Red Devils have already faced a tough schedule this season. They dropped their first two games to Christian Academy of Louisville and Bowling Green by two touchdowns each — a pair of teams that have been in KSR’s Top 25 rankings all season.

However, they’ve gained back momentum after crushing Daviess County last week 50-7. The Red Devils’ offense is led by junior quarterback Trevor Delacey, who has posted 776 yards total so far this season — 606 passing and 170 rushing to go along with six touchdowns total.

Delacey is backed by talented receivers and running backs, with the capability to score in many different ways. Junior Deion Winstead and sophomore Evan Hampton are the leading rushers for the Devils, combining for 412 yards rushing and five touchdowns.

Owensboro also has four receivers with 100+ yards: Hampton, junior Blake Kimbrell, junior Dereon Crowe, and sophomore Chadyn Morris. The Red Devils have a lot of options offensively. By staying present in each play, they’ll give the Aces a run for their money.

Friday Night Lights action is almost here and KSR can’t wait to cover the action. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. CT at Rash Stadium in Owensboro.

The post No. 12 Owensboro Catholic takes on inner-city rival Owensboro appeared first on On3.

[1

post-16055","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
