Penn State football once again welcomed the media to check out a glimpse of its Wednesday evening practice. Following a 38-15 win for the Nittany Lions over West Virginia<\/a><\/strong> last weekend, the program has worked through its corrections and is preparing for Delaware<\/strong> on Saturday at Beaver Stadium (noon, Peacock).<\/p>\n

Blue-White Illustrated was out at practice to see how the Nittany Lions are looking and walked away with a few observations and impressions. Here, we turn our attention to the offensive side of the ball.<\/p>\n

Checking in on a Penn State reciever<\/h2>\n

1) Maybe most notably for Penn State\u2019s offense, a key piece of the puzzle for the 2023 attack was a full participant on Wednesday. Omari Evans<\/a><\/strong>, the true sophomore receiver, worked through receiving lines after being sidelined last weekend against West Virginia.<\/p>\n

Evans was dressed and warmed up in pregame for the Mountaineers. However, despite being flagged in the stat book for a false start penalty on punt coverage, the penalty was misattributed. Evans did not actually play.<\/p>\n

Whether or not Evans returns to action this weekend against Delaware remains to be seen. But, the appearance and participation in the portion of practice open to the media, at least, bodes well for his near future.<\/p>\n

More on the Lions receivers<\/h2>\n

2) Liam Cliffor<\/a><\/strong>d continues to hold down the top spot in the slot. The Nittany Lions\u2019 redshirt freshman started on Saturday for the first time in his career, Again on Wednesday afternoon, he appeared first in line when Penn State ran through its lines with the quarterbacks.<\/p>\n

In the role, Clifford caught two passes for 25 yards, including a 17-yard reception. Additionally, he was credited with 19 YAC out of his 25 receiving yards.<\/p>\n

Behind Clifford was Kaden Saunders<\/a><\/strong>. Behind KeAndre Lambert-Smith<\/a><\/strong> on the outside was Harrison Wallace<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Looking at the offensive line<\/h2>\n

3) A few points of interest on the offensive line from today\u2019s practice. From left to right, Phil Trautwein<\/a><\/strong> had Olu Fashanu<\/a><\/strong> to the outside of JB Nelson<\/a><\/strong>, with Hunter Nourzad<\/a><\/strong> at center. At right guard, Vega Ioane<\/a><\/strong> appeared, with Caedan Wallace<\/a><\/strong> still at right tackle.<\/p>\n

Two additional notes of interest, that were likely dictated by the period we saw: At center, Addison Penn<\/a><\/strong> was getting work, and Golden Israel-Achumba<\/a><\/strong> appeared to be getting reps at left guard.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The caveat here is that the entirety of the offensive line wasn\u2019t working at the time. Later in practice, Sean Fitz reported Sal Wormley<\/a><\/strong> working with the normal first team at right guard when the top offensive and defensive lines were working against each other.\u00a0<\/p>\n
