Alex Bowman<\/strong> and Daniel Su\u00e1rez<\/strong> were far from happy with each other following the Southern 500 at Darlington. <\/p>\n

In one of the more fascinating incidents during Sunday\u2019s race, the Chevrolet duo was involved in a wreck that ruined both of their nights. With Stage 3 winding down, Bowman laid down not one, but two huge blocks on Su\u00e1rez, and the Trackhouse Racing star wasn\u2019t going to let the No. 48 get away with it.<\/p>\n

Instead of lifting into the turn, Su\u00e1rez decided to stay in the gas, and while he was ultimately in the right in the eyes of many, it ended up wrecking both cars, and collected Harrison Burton<\/strong> as well. Afterwards, both drivers had some choice words for each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can block once and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0okay. We give and take. I could have easily put him into the inside wall. I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0do that because\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not like that. But when I went to his outside, he blocked me again. I\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0going to lift a second time,\u201d Su\u00e1rez told reporters<\/a>, following the incident. \u201cI gave him a break once, I\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0give him a break twice. So like, he has to be smarter.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0smarter than\u00a0that. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know. He has five minutes of being a dummy, and he used it tonight I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing, Su\u00e1rez took to Twitter afterwards to double-down on his comments, and claim he wasn\u2019t surprised by Bowman\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d use other words but that wouldn\u2019t be appropriate so let\u2019s stick to \u2018dumb move.\u2019 I\u2019m not surprised by now,\u201d Su\u00e1rez tweeted<\/a>. \u201cMy team deserved better today, we struggled in the short run but were strong in the long run, our @Freeway_Ins Chevy was a top10 car. We\u2019ll bounce back in Kansas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, there\u2019s two sides to each wreck, and the Hendrick Motorsports driver responded to Su\u00e1rez\u2019s comments, firing back at the entire No. 99 team.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously it\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0work, so he chose not to lift and to crash us. But every time I race the No. 99, he does something dumb,\u201d responded Bowman, via NBC<\/em><\/a>. \u201cWhether\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0his crew chief flipping me off on the way to the airport, or just anytime\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0around him, he blocks me really aggressively. So\u00a0that\u2019s just\u00a0part of it sometimes, and obviously the block\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0work out. Looking back, I\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0have done it. We were just really tight on the short-run, and I knew I needed to hang on to whatever track position I could. So kind of just got a bad run off of four being tight. Saw he had a run. Knew if I could hold on for a couple laps, that we\u2019d be really good. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut yeah, he wants to call me dumb, every time\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0around him\u00a0there\u2019s a big\u00a0block. So\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0just part of racing sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

While both Alex Bowman and Daniel Su\u00e1rez are out of the NASCAR Playoff picture, it\u2019ll be something to behold each time they\u2019re beside each other on the track moving forward. A budding rivalry seems to be beginning between two bright stars. <\/p>\n
