Quarterback Jordan Travis was fantastic.

He threw for four touchdowns and ran for another as the Seminoles steamrolled the Tigers. And Travis had a promise for his fans after the game.

“It means a lot, but we’re just getting started,” Travis said in a postgame interview on the field.

Florida State battled through the first half and trailed at halftime before opening things up in a hurry in the second half.

The Seminoles scored 31 unanswered points in the second half as the offensive line began to assert its dominance and Travis made key plays to move the chains when he needed to. Then a bevy of key transfers got involved, like receiver Keon Coleman out of Michigan State.

Coleman turned in three touchdown catches, finishing the game with nine catches for 122 yards.

“He makes my job easier, we always say that,” Travis said. “He’s going to make my job easy. You see I just throw the ball in the air and he goes and makes the play. That kid works very hard and he’s a great person all the time and a great teammate and I’m so grateful to have him.”

So what exactly changed in the second half, which Florida State went into trailing 17-14?

According to Travis, it was a combination of a handful of different things. But basically FSU just clicked into sync all at once.

“I think we just had to get those, that first-game nerves out of the way,” Jordan Travis said. “I think that’s all it was. Kudos to the coaching staff, I mean they came in with a great gameplan in that second half. And the offensive line stepped up real big. That’s the main thing, it all comes down to the offensive line. They work so hard and I’m so grateful for them, so that was a great win and I’m very thankful.”

The star Florida State quarterback finished his night 23-of-31 passing for 342 yards, with four touchdowns and one interception. He also ran seven times for 38 yards and a touchdown.

After the win he was just overcome with joy and gratitude for his team.

“I love this football team more than anything in the world,” Travis said. “They put smiles on my face every single day I walk into the locker room. I’m so grateful for them, so grateful for these fans, so grateful for this coaching staff, this university for giving us everything. So I’ll do whatever I have to do to help this team win, and I said that at the beginning of the year and I’m going to do that.”

The post Jordan Travis promises more to come: ‘We’re just getting started’ appeared first on On3.

[1

post-15649","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
