Miami (Fla.) Central 2025 three-star quarterback Bekkem Kritza<\/a><\/strong> has turned into one of the more-coveted quarterback prospects in his recruiting cycle, and Miami<\/a><\/strong> is more than in the mix.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes are turning up the heat on the 6-foot-5, 185-pound three-star quarterback as the season begins along with Penn State, Colorado, Texas A&M, Florida State and Louisville<\/a><\/strong>. Kritza has also heard from Florida, Michigan and a few other programs in recent weeks, but he\u2019s spoken to Miami head coach Mario Cristobal<\/a><\/strong> and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson<\/a><\/strong> \u201cabout every other day\u201d since coaches became permitted to directly contact 2025 recruits Aug 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m building a great connection with those guys, and I can\u2019t wait to see where it goes,\u201d Kritza said. \u201cThey\u2019ve said they\u2019re intrigued by and excited about my arm talent, what I can bring to the field with my physical tools and stuff like that and that they liked my personality. \u2026They told me I\u2019m one of the top guys in the 2025 class and they want me to come in and compete and do all of the things I\u2019m supposed to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kritza wasn\u2019t dissuaded by Miami\u2019s decision to take fellow 2025 three-star quarterback Luke Nickel<\/a><\/strong> earlier this summer and is fine with the possibility of a two-quarterback class. Kritza would be willing to compete with another quarterback for the starting job, and Nickel\u2019s commitment hasn\u2019t affected how Miami has talked to Kritza.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they bring someone in, great,\u201d Kritza said. \u201cI just look at that as an opportunity for me to get even better and compete with another guy that\u2019s a top guy in my class. It doesn\u2019t change much for me. They still let me know that I\u2019m a top guy in their recruiting class and they\u2019ll take a quarterback, which is a really great thing. I\u2019m excited.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kritza doesn\u2019t plan to publicly announce a top five, but if he did, Miami would be included, he said. He added his commitment is the announcement he\u2019ll care about.<\/p>\n

He plans to attend Miami\u2019s Sept. 9 game against Texas A&M as well as home games at Penn State, Michigan, Texas A&M, Florida and Colorado. He has particular excitement about Miami, however, due to his close relationship with Cristobal.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s such a great dude,\u201d Kritza said. \u201cJust talking to him, I think there\u2019s no better head coach in college football in my opinion. I think he has a great group of guys to be around, and I can\u2019t wait to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

CaneSport\u2019s Take<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kritza put on a solid performance at one of Miami\u2019s prospect camps earlier this summer and has tremendous arm talent, although he\u2019s still far from a finished product and could benefit from game reps. He\u2019ll receive split playing time with two senior quarterbacks at Central this season, so we may not receive a tremendous sample size of his ability this fall, but the Hurricanes are remaining high on him.<\/p>\n
