There are few programs in college football that have the resources to match the Texas Longhorns<\/a><\/strong>. Because of that, former Ohio State<\/a><\/strong> head coach Urban Meyer<\/a><\/strong> thinks that the Longhorns are on the verge of breaking through on the field.<\/p>\n

During Urban\u2019s Take with Tim May<\/em>, Meyer broke down what he likes about Texas, including the incredibly talented roster in place there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got Texas \u2014 at some point Texas, too good of a place,\u201d Urban Meyer said. \u201cThe coach, [Steve] Sarkisian<\/a><\/strong> is too good of a coach. They are loaded. There\u2019s a five-star athlete at every position on offense at Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2022, the Longhorns played one of the marquee non-conference games of the season. That was against Alabama<\/a><\/strong> and Texas nearly came up with the win in that game. Many people thought Texas should have won that game, including Urban Meyer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI watched them against Alabama last year. They should have won that game. If Quinn Ewers<\/a><\/strong> doesn\u2019t go down, I believe Texas beats Alabama and the whole 2022 is completely different.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luckily, for Texas, the Longhorns will have a chance to avenge that loss in the non-conference in 2023. In Week 2, Texas is going to travel to Tuscaloosa for the return trip of a home and home with Alabama. It won\u2019t be easy, but a win could set the tone for the rest of what will be an important season for the Longhorns. <\/p>\n

As Meyer pointed out, one of the big reasons why Texas lost that game was because Quinn Ewers went down with an injury. Had he stayed healthy, it\u2019s hard to say what might have happened. Hopefully, injuries don\u2019t have that same type of impact on the game in 2023. <\/p>\n

Urban Meyer praised Texas\u2019 roster<\/h2>\n

This Spring, Urban Meyer praised the raw talent of the roster at Texas. He explained that he thinks it\u2019s the most talented roster in all of college football and would have a hard time arguing for another team to have more talent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Texas, you didn\u2019t mention them, but, you know, don\u2019t sleep on Texas this year,\u201d\u00a0Meyer said<\/a>. \u201cMan for man, roster against roster, it\u2019s hard to say Texas doesn\u2019t have the best roster in college football right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s pretty difficult to argue that Texas is back until the Longhorns consistently win on the field. However, it\u2019s also hard not to be excited about the team going into the 2023 season. <\/p>\n
