NC State<\/a> is in the final days of its fall camp and, as the team starts to ramp up preparation for UConn, its week one opponent, a key true freshman received some recognition from ESPN.com<\/a>. Andrea Adelson<\/strong> selected Juice Vereen<\/a><\/strong> as one of the ACC\u2019s potential standout freshmen. <\/p>\n

The former four-star tight end prospect is incredibly versatile and has the size and speed needed to play inside or outside receiver in offensive coordinator Robert Anae\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> system. Adelson compared him to another underclassmen who had a lot of success in that air raid scheme. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wolfpack have a pair of freshmen who can be difference-makers in their new offense under Robert Anae: Vereen and\u00a0Kevin Concepcion<\/a><\/strong>, who were both enrolled in the spring and showed potential,\u201d Adelson wrote. \u201cConsider what Anae did last season with TE\/WR hybrid\u00a0Oronde Gadsden<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at Syracuse. Gadsden was not a true freshman, but he did have a breakout season with 969 yards and six touchdowns. Vereen has similar size, so don\u2019t be surprised if Anae uses him in a similar way.\u201d<\/p>\n

During his senior year of high school, Vereen caught 72 passes for 1,098 yards and scored 15 total touchdowns while primarily playing outside receiver. The GoPack.com<\/a> roster now lists him at 6-4, 214 pounds. Vereen enrolled early in January.<\/p>\n
