{"id":13197,"date":"2023-08-10T09:11:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-10T14:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demo.wztzfm.com\/wp\/?p=13197"},"modified":"2023-08-10T09:11:00","modified_gmt":"2023-08-10T14:11:00","slug":"miami-hurricanes-c-matt-lee-sees-chemistry-building-on-the-offensive-line-excited-about-upcoming-open-scrimmage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.wztzfm.com\/wp\/miami-hurricanes-c-matt-lee-sees-chemistry-building-on-the-offensive-line-excited-about-upcoming-open-scrimmage\/","title":{"rendered":"Miami Hurricanes C Matt Lee sees chemistry building on the offensive line, excited about upcoming open scrimmage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When the first-team Miami Hurricanes OL lines up on Saturday for the first offensive play of the first fall scrimmage at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hardrockstadium.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hard Rock Stadium<\/a>, it will be a much different looking group than Canes fans saw a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s UCF transfer center <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/matt-lee-85442\/\">Matt Lee<\/a><\/strong>. Alabama transfer left guard Javion Cohen. 5-star signee Francis Mauigoa is expected to start at right tackle. Jalen Rivers will be at left tackle vs. the guard spot he played a year ago, and Anez Cooper rounds out the starters at guard after getting starts late last year.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of just how much better the Miami offense can be under Shannon Dawson hinges on how these guys up front play.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"F7rUYi8KGOFV3VfbkRbeBuj9limtNR7hkHySaTs61hOxvJd5DqJQKdrzLpTl1CSLWcnB98w3wYHMIycIWD5xEQoPXZjfNvp0o2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/u691uRcSgMc\"><\/a><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<p>Lee knows that all too well. And he welcomes anyone who questions how good this line will be.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(The progress and bond) continues to grow every single day,\u201d Lee said. \u201cWorking together out there \u2013 camp you are up here all day. Being around the guys every day, all day, build the chemistry. It keeps going like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lee also talked about a couple of the other O line projected starters.<\/p>\n<p>Of OG Anez Cooper, Lee said, \u201cHe\u2019s a big, imposing dude, real smart. I see all parts of his game continuing to develop. I expect him to have a great year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And of the freshman Francis Mauigoa, Lee said, \u201cPhysically, mentally \u2013 way above what you\u2019d expect of a 17 year old, newly 18 year old. Every day in camp he continues to grow. Dedicated, smart. He really gets after it. He\u2019ll be a special player.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lee also said he\u2019s looking forward to Miami\u2019s first fall scrimmage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s awesome,\u201d he said. \u2018This whole week is preparing for the scrimmage. It\u2019ll be really good \u2013 the scrimmage aspect of it. To get that experience will be good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Lee and this Miami team, yesterday was the first fall practice in full pads. He says that it was \u201csuper physical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOL vs. DL, we\u2019re hitting either way, just with shoulder pads on,\u201d Lee said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been physical since we started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>*Lee said that DT Branson Deen is \u201chaving a great camp. He\u2019s not a little guy. He\u2019s an experienced guy, extremely smart on the defensive line, explosive, quick, knows how to use momentum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also said of going against Miami DT Leonard Taylor that \u201cI go against him a bunch \u2013 iron sharpens iron.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Lee said that DE\/DT Rueben Bain, a freshman, has a bright future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s going to be a really, really good, special player,\u201d Lee said. \u201cHe knows what he\u2019s doing every play.
