King George (Va.) three-star wide receiver Mekhai White<\/a><\/strong> has been sold on Maryland for a while. On Tuesday, he made the call to commit to the Teraphins. <\/p>\n

White chose the Teraphins over Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. He felt like Maryland was home two months ago. <\/p>\n

\u201cI knew maybe two months ago that Maryland was the place for me,\u201d White said.<\/p>\n

White took his official visit to Maryland back on June 9. That visit went a long way in helping White make his decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good vibe everyone just chilling laughing and just getting to know each other a little bit more,\u201d White said.<\/p>\n

Mekhai White won over by Maryland culture<\/h2>\n

White was sold on Maryland\u2019s culture. The relationships that he built during his recruitment made a big impact on White as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust the relationships I had with everyone up there, the players and staff (won me over),\u201d White told On3.<\/p>\n

White built a strong relationship with Maryland wide receiver Gunter Brewer<\/a><\/strong> over the last few years. Brewer remained consistent throughout White\u2019s recruitment. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy relationship with coach (Gunter) Brewer definitely pushed things over the top,\u201d White said. \u201cHe stayed in constant contact with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maryland\u2019s culture has White\u2019s attention as well. White complimented head coach Michael Locksley\u2019s momentum in building a strong program in Maryland. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think coach Locks is building a great culture and he is definitely building a winning and championship culture,\u201d White said. <\/p>\n

White feels Maryland is on its way back to being a contending in the ACC.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaryland football is on the come up and I think we will be national champions in a couple of years,\u201d White.<\/p>\n

White won\u2019t have far to travel for college. He will make his way from King George Virginia to College Park, Maryland which is only an hour and a half from home.<\/p>\n

That too has its benefits for White who is looking forward to being close to home and playing in front of family on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means a lot to me, my family will be able to see me play almost every weekend which is a plus,\u201d White said.<\/p>\n\n
