Alabama<\/a><\/strong> is still working through<\/a> one of the bigger quarterback battles<\/a> in the country at the moment. Even so, On3\u2019s J.D. PicKell<\/a> has made his pick as he has Ty Simpson<\/a> becoming the Crimson Tide\u2019s QB1.<\/p>\n

PicKell named Simpson as \u2018Bama\u2019s starter during Thursday\u2019s episode of \u2018The Hard Count\u2019<\/a>. A big reason why at the moment is because Simpson, for now at least, is all potential as he hasn\u2019t truly played college football yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy prediction for who\u2019s going to be the starting quarterback for Alabama<\/a>, ultimately, is Ty Simpson,\u201d PicKell stated. \u201cSome part of this for Ty Simpson, to be 100% fair, is the unknown with him is undefeated. We have the smallest sample size on Ty Simpson. There\u2019s no way around that.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, PicKell also knows that Simpson has the talent to win the gig too. Based on what he saw from him over the spring, Simpson has the tools to succeed in Alabama\u2019s new offense considering he showed a willingness to accept the game as it came to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to ability for Ty Simpson? There is no question mark for me about if he has that or not. It is there,\u201d said PicKell. \u201cHe was a five-star quarterback<\/a> out of high school<\/a>, he was a top-three quarterback<\/a> for us here at On3 in that cycle<\/a>. The dude can play some football<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest thing<\/a> with me with Ty Simpson is when I watched him during the spring football game? It wasn\u2019t glamorous. Yeah, there were some mistakes, there were some things you don\u2019t love, some things you\u2019ve got to clean up without a doubt. But this dude had zero issue taking what the defense gave him,\u201d PicKell said. \u201cI think if you can take what the defense gives you in this Tommy Rees offense? You\u2019re going to be set up for success.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jalen Milroe<\/a> and Tyler Buchner<\/a> are more experienced<\/a> and might be more skilled in some ways. Even so, with how \u2018Bama is going to play, Simpson might fit the best. He might not yet be what the Tide have had at the position over the past few seasons<\/a> but, considering what they need now, PicKell sees him as the answer to their quarterback question, at least by the time they kickoff against the Longhorns on September 9th<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the ability is there, I think he\u2019s going to do what is asked of him as the quarterback at Alabama. Does he win the Heisman Trophy<\/a>? Like, I don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be built for him to really have the offense go through him<\/a>,\u201d said PicKell. \u201cBut I think he will do what is required of him, I think he will be consistent. I think he will make the right decision based on what I saw in that spring football game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, I think, by Texas<\/a><\/strong>, he will be your starting quarterback,\u201d PicKell said. \u201cFor me, Ty Simpson is going to be your starting quarterback at Alabama<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
