It hasn’t yet reached the halfway point, but that will come later this week. The Bulldogs haven’t scrimmaged yet but they have held six practices and with that in mind, DawgsHQ is taking everything we’ve seen and heard and we’re putting together a depth chart.

Let’s talk format before we get started. We’re going three deep at each position on offense and defense. We reserve the right to go with co-starters when applicable and we’re only using the players who are currently on campus.

Quarterback

Carson BeckBrock Vandagriff / Gunner Stockton

Beck has the clear leg up at this point and that’s to be expected. But we do not believe this thing is over. If Georgia played a game today, Beck is behind center but you never know when Vandagriff or Stockton will gain significant traction and make their move. Mike Bobo has plenty of talent with which to work.

Running Back

Kendall Milton / Daijun EdwardsBranson RobinsonRoderick Robinson

We’re not going to put Andrew Paul on here until he’s cleared for contact. Milton will miss the rest of spring but he’s going to be at or near the top of the depth chart when healthy. Edwards is an ultra-reliable mainstay for the Bulldogs. Both Robinsons are having really good springs. Branson has run with great power and Roderick is a load even against the Bulldogs’ talented defense.

Tight End

Brock BowersOscar DelpLawson Luckie

Bowers is arguably the best player in college football and the other two are fighting for the right to spell him when he’s tired and join him in the right packages. Delp has the leg up but Luckie is going to push him the entire way.

Receiver (X)

Marcus Rosemy-JacksaintRara Thomas / Dillon BellTyler Williams

If this whole group remains healthy, the “starter” will be a week-to-week thing. The Bulldogs have three experienced guys at the top who can play winning football. Whoever has the best week of practice will earn the start and all three will play. Williams also has a chance to get in the mix, especially if there’s an injury.

Receiver (Z)

Ladd McConkeyArian SmithC.J. Smith

McConkey played this position for Georgia last season and was a difference maker once he got over a tough stretch in late September/Early October. He’s going to wear a lot of different hats for the Bulldogs this season. Arian Smith is a big play waiting to happen when healthy and so far, so good this spring (knock on wood). I’ve heard some chatter of late about C.J. Smith. The light seems to be flickering a bit with the speedster. He’s playing a more physical brand of ball.

Receiver (Slot)

Dominic LovettLadd McConkeyArian Smith

We’ve spoken with several sources who are impressed with Lovett. They like his competitiveness, speed, quickness, and physicality for a small receiver. Lovett can slide outside and play the Z receiver position and McConkey can perform in the slot. Smith will have a package in the slot where he has had some success. Mekhi Mews is going to be listed on the depth chart but he’s behind these guys.

Left Tackle

Austin BlaskeEarnest GreeneMonroe Freeling

We continue to hear good things about Blaske from this past week. Multiple coaches from the Georgia’s clinic have told DawgsHQ that the fourth-year lineman is the real deal. He still has some technique things to clean up but he’s in a really good spot. Holding off Greene, however, won’t be easy. Greene is still getting back in shape after missing a lot of time with a back injury. This is going to be a battle and Freeling will get involved if he can get bigger and stronger post spring.

Left Guard

Xavier TrussMicah MorrisDylan Fairchild

Truss had a great 2023 season and will be the starter as long as he’s healthy. Morris, however, is making some noise. He’s well on his way toward forcing Stacy Searels to use a rotation of some sort. Fairchild is having a good spring as well.

Center

Sedrick Van PranJared WilsonDrew Bobo

Getting Van Pran back was so massive and it’s one of those things that can’t be mentioned enough. If he goes down, Blaske will be the guy who steps in but for the purpose of a depth chart, Wilson gets the nod here. Bobo is probably No. 4 in reality but he’s grinding away for his chance down the line.

Right Guard

Tate RatledgeMicah MorrisDylan Fairchild

Ratledge got off to a slow start in 2022 as he battled back from a serious foot injury the year before. He also had some other injury issues to overcome but that he did. He was one of Georgia’s most dominant linemen by year’s end. He’s backed up by two guys we’ve already discussed. Their arrows are pointing up.

Right Tackle

Amarius MimsChad LindbergAliou Bah

Mims has this job locked down and based on everything we’ve heard, he will be staying at right tackle. Blaske or Greene would probably slide over if Mims has to come out, but Lindberg is in the mix as well. After hearing some chatter about Bah on the scout team last season, we haven’t heard much about him this spring.

The post Georgia football depth chart: Mid-spring projection on offense appeared first on On3.

Georgia is in the midst of spring drills.
