South Carolina landed the highest-rated commitment of the Shane Beamer era on Tuesday when Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate Academy\u00a0Five-Star Plus+<\/a>\u00a0EDGE\u00a0Dylan Stewart<\/a><\/strong> announced his pledge to the Gamecocks.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Stewart chose South Carolina over finalists Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, and Maryland, though he had offers from programs all over the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat led me to commit to them is the family vibe and they really care about you,\u201d Stewart told On3\u2019s Hayes Fawcett<\/a>. \u201cTwo, it\u2019s the SEC. Three, I know I\u2019m going to get developed because my coaches have done it at all levels and know what it takes. I click with the guys committed in the 2024 class and I\u2019m very comfortable there. It\u2019s like a second home to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart is the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 2 EDGE in the 2024 cycle, according to the\u00a0On3 Industry Ranking<\/strong><\/a>, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in D.C.<\/p>\n

On3 ranks Stewart as the No. 10 overall prospect in his class and the No. 2 EDGE recruit in the class, also pegging him as the No. 1 prospect in D.C.<\/p>\n

South Carolina outside linebackers and EDGEs coach Sterling Lucas, a rising star in the industry, was the Gamecocks\u2019 lead recruiter for Stewart.<\/p>\n

Stewart is the second five-star commitment for the Gamecocks in the last calendar year after Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll five-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor<\/a><\/strong> committed to South Carolina in February as part of the 2023 class. Harbor was ranked the No. 21 prospect in his class.<\/p>\n

Stewart\u2019s pledge elevated the Gamecocks closer to the top-15 nationally as well. Following Stewart\u2019s commitment,\u00a0South Carolina rose to No. 17 nationally<\/a>\u00a0in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. The Gamecocks\u2019 class, which also ranks No. 9 in the SEC, rose three spots from No. 20.<\/p>\n

Stewart\u00a0currently has an\u00a0On3 NIL Valuation of $321K<\/a>. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry\u2019s leading index that sets high school and college athletes\u2019 projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete\u2019s value at a certain moment in time.<\/p>\n
