Upon the return of Brent Venables<\/a><\/strong> to Norman one of the first things the Sooners prioritized was in-state recruiting. And it seems that in the class of 2025 that emphasis is starting to pay off. Oklahoma landed the commitment of the state\u2019s No. 2 prospect<\/a><\/strong>, Elijah Thomas<\/a><\/strong>, on Thursday evening. <\/p>\n

Thomas has always been adamant about growing up a Sooners fan and on Thursday made those feelings official. He chose Oklahoma over offers from Alabama, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Kansas State amongst others. Still though his affinity for what Venables and Emmett Jones<\/strong> are building made it tough to say no.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe school I\u2019ve really been following my whole life is OU, as a child, my whole family,\u201d Thomas said earlier this summer. <\/p>\n

And as the nation\u2019s No. 143 overall player, according to the On3 Industry rankings, Thomas got to know the Sooners staff on a more personal level. As he did, he became more convinced than ever of his initial feelings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe love everyone was showing me when I was there made me feel welcome and made it feel like home. Benton Duby<\/strong>, Coach V, Coach Jones they all made me feel welcome,\u201d he explained to On3\u2019s Hayes Fawcett<\/strong>. \u201cWhen I went to other facilities I didn\u2019t feel what I felt at OU.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d have to say I\u2019m closest with Bduby but besides him Coach Jones.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Thomas who joins Oklahoma\u2019s impressive offensive commitments, Gracen Harris<\/a><\/strong> and Kevin Sperry<\/a><\/strong>, he\u2019s got a clear idea of his role in Norman.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey plan on using me for my speed ability and deep balls.\u201d<\/p>\n
